Please tell me that some of you have hit a slow/stall around week 6. I can't seem to break past 248... I have gone up or down a pound for the past week. I am eating about 500 - 600 calories a day (mostly protein) and exercising about 30 mins daily. The only thing I feel like I could improve on is Water intake. I am getting about 40-60 ounces. I want to cry because I have made so many "sacrifices" with food and social events, yet not seeing the rewards. HELP!!!

That's not very many calories....you are pretty much in starvation mode. Eat more and drink more. I stalled for a month between weeks 6 and 10. In fact, I gained 3 pounds and THEN stalled for a month. I was on a medication that made me very nauseous during that time and could barely eat or drink. I even had to get IV fluids 3 times for dehydration. As soon as I stopped the meds I pretty much doubled my food and liquid intake and lost 8 pounds in 1 week!

I definitely agree with Kindle. While I am only 3 weeks post op, I noticed when I raised my calories a bit I lost weight! It was weird but overnight (and I am not kidding) I lost 6 lbs. The skeptical me, picked up my scale and weighed myself in different areas of my home because I started thinking my bathroom floor must be slanted haha. I didn't understand it at first because I knew I had eaten a little more the night before (half of a medium avocado, an over medium egg, and some hummus - not at the same time, but throughout the day). Your body may be trying to hold on to your weight because like Kindle said, it thinks it's in starvation mode. My calories were between 400 - 600 and now they are between 600 - 800 and my Doctor said that was good. I know everyone is different, so I am just saying what worked for me. Please don't cry, after reading many veteran sleever's testimonials it will come off, our body is just freaking out at the moment. Wishing you the best! :)

Oh yeah, and stay off the scale. Take note of your progress by how your clothes fit and other NSV's. I actually dropped a whole pant size during the month I was "stalled". I don't even own a scale, so The only reason I even knew I was stalled was because I went to the doctor 6 times between weeks 6 and 14 and they weighed me each time.

There's no crying in weightloss!!! Oh wait, that was baseball. Sometimes a good cry is cathartic. Just don't wallow. LOL Read read read the veterans' posts and keep following your program. Prayers up for your peace of mind.

Thanks everyone for the support. I tried to eat more calories today, but when I eat more food, I feel miserably stuffed. I'm thinking of adding a snack in around late afternoon. I eat lunch at 11:45 and then don't eat dinner until 6:00. I did need to go buy new pants today because my old ones were too large. I feel better now...:)

You definitely need to add something in the afternoon. That's too long to go without eating. Good luck.

Everyone hits a stall in weight loss but don't let it get you down! Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint! Even on regular diets we hit stalls. It's our bodies way of saying, "hold up, what are you doing to me?" You will get back on track, believe me! I agree with other posters though, your caloric intake should be around 800 and 80-90 grams of Protein.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
