12 days out and I don't know what "full" feels like?

Recommended Posts

I'm trying to go by my NUT's guidelines and not overdo it but I get hungry and eat and have never "felt" full. Have any of you experienced this?

Yes me too but it depends on what I'm eating and if I'm in pain I can't keep much down...The biggest I have ate is 5.3oz of yogurt and that's the whole container of the non fat geek yogurt but even if I'm not full I'm not going back for more or snacking...I just wish I would feel that FULL feeling but I don't...

I think the common misnomer here is that you should never really feel "full". You should feel satisfied. If you are hungry then eat. Your body is telling you that you need it. Once that hunger is gone, then you are good to go. I know some who have that full feeling, but keep in mind that the full feeling means you are also stretching your stomach out. That is not a good thing. You will just need to begin figuring out a new feeling for what it means to be satisfied instead of full.

If there is anything else I can do please let me know at the links below.

The above are all right. You aren't supposed to feel full. You are supposed to be satisfied, or not hungry. Your head will play tricks on you so be careful. Protein helps satisfy hunger. If I get hungry beyond my normal times, I eat a couple spoonfuls of cottage cheese and am satisfied. And I got some of my protein in. Eating sugar and white flour items make you think you are hungry more than you are. You need to focus on your protein.

I agree with the above statements focus on your Protein because it will keep you feeling full, as far as hungry it sounds lie head hunger, are any of you eating every three hours? You should be having small meals also this will prevent your body thinking it needs to hold onto everything. Focus on your protein , Water and follow your doctors advice good luck.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
