COBRA is not an insurance policy, it's just a law that lets you continue your EXISTING coverage if you lose your eligibility through your job. Whatever insurance you have now is exactly what you will have if you continue it under COBRA. The only difference is that you will be paying the premiums. So, who is your insurance carrier? Also do you have to be in Cobra for sometime for them to pay ? Alexandra is right, you can check with customer service by calling on the back of your health insurance card and ask them. You can also ask to see a COBRA benefits summary (aka SPD) that could disclose if the lapband is covered. Finally your doctor or specialist could call and get authorization for the surgery.
