Unbelievably stressed OUT, how to focus?

Recommended Posts

I am awaiting approval....having financial issues....work is KILLING me mentally right now...fighting with the hubby...new(er) baby....on and on.

All i want to do is focus on ME but this stress is killing me. Im supposed to have started my pre op diet yesterday...i do well all day till i get off work. Ive binged each night. Sooo frustrated with myself. Scared. What will i do if i get denied? What will i do if I get approved? Any advice on how to calm the brain and focus on this weight loss?

you are very much not alone. i try to concentrate just on one thing at a time, the next thing i have to do, and somehow i get through the day. it's hard to focus on one thing when we have so much going on rigth now, but it's good practice to keep trying.

Brn2blossom I'm betting there are few of of us that haven't been where u are or won't be again I know the feeling about the stressful job try to leave it behind when u go home it's vital for you to not carry it with u when not on the clock in order to do what u need to do to get ready for this u must put some focus on yourself u can't avoid it the money probs will likely not disappear this I know lol fighting with husband may well be a side effect of having a new baby which in itself is major stress although a happy one it's normal most couples fight when a baby comes in the mix between working keeping house a newborn schedule prepping for these procedures the diet not getting enough sleep etc please try and remember u are doing this for yourself and it really is ok to put u first especially in order to get healthier if u let stress sabotage your efforts it will just delay getting where u want to go and that will just bring more stress hint... A dart board with bosses face works wonders not that I do do that or anything..... Yeah coughs lol

food for thought..is this the right time to take on weight loss surgery? It took alot of focus for me to be successful....and I feel like a new baby combined with all else would have made it very hard for me to have the success I did. (Maintaining 160# loss lost sleeve). I wish you much success, but want to tell you life losing massive weight and then maintaining it isnt always easy....even though very rewarding.

I don't think many of us didn't do the same thing...i can tell you it is hard post op...i feel isolated because i cannot eat what my family eats..large family gatherings find me stuffed after 2forks full so i sit and watch everyone else...are mostly doing this because food is our life raft..i would look deep into yourself and ask if you are willing to change for the new you...i know for me the hard struggle is what i have too do...i wish you well..

Im so appreciative for you comments. Me and my family were doing great with a whole foods lifestyle change, i even ran a half marathon. But we mived and I got pregnant, husband got a new job and we both fell out of our healthy habits. He is back to it now. Ive always thought if surgery but never qualified insurance wise. since my BMI is 40 now after baby I jumped at the opportunity. I know having this tool is my key for success. I just wish I had an answer from insurance...this waiting thing SUCKS so bad! Im normally a very happy person, and all this is making me a stressed out depressed person, I hate not knowing my path. Hoping to hear something this week , i know they got my paperwork Wednesday

Big hugs!! At times in my life I could totally relate to your story. I wish I would've started this journey years before, especially when my children were younger to enjoy every minute with them instead of missing out because I wasn't healthy enough to keep up. Take a deep breath and just don't give up on making you healthier.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
