I saw a cousin today for the first time since my pre-op and surgery. He said he was very impressed with my weight loss (40 lbs). He said I actually don't look like the michelin man anymore. Wow. I just said thank you and changed the subject.

You are a better person than I am. I don't think I could have let that pass without comment.

I so wish it was not illegal to punch rude, obnoxious people!

LOL That kind of reminds me of the Three stooges bit where one is carrying a long 2x4 and turns around and misses the other guy, but continues on around and smacks him in the back of the head! Here in East Texas we call that a backhanded compliment.

However insensitive, you did the right thing.......take the compliment, smile and go on about your business. Ya can't fix stupid. ;)

JCP,

Here in the South we have a saying that conveys compassion for those that are just too ignorant for their own good: "Bless their HEART!." ;)

You handled the situation well. Don't know if I would have had the class not to make a comment.

CONGRATULATIONS on your success!!!!! :D

Blessings,

Kathleen

Tell him you lost weight by taking a high intensity crotch kicking class, then show him what you've learned.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Your so close now! It's gonna be great :) Wishing you a speedy recovery and looking forward to seeing how it goes!

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
