Hi all. I am 4 weeks post op from a band to sleeve revision. I have heard of people using stomach binders after surgery to protect their incisions but I am wondering if anyone has used them after healing? I am not so much losing pounds but inches for sure and my stomach is becoming saggy and the skin is loose. Any insight?

Lose skin is going to happen anyway but working your abs will be the best way of achieving the waist you want. I did buy a binder but more for support because I need it as it hurts to turn.

@@Beni Yes I am going to start an exercises as soon as I'm cleared. I just know that they won't tighten up everything as I have been down this road before. Just looking for something to hold it in and show off all the hard work I guess

My MD said I could wear a binder soon as I can tolerate it and I am 4 days out. First day home from the hospital I wore a girdle I've had forever that wasn't that tight and continue to wear that or Spanx just because I feel more secure. By 4 weeks you should be able to wear a girdle or waist trainer for sure.

They have me a binder in the hospital right after surgery. Best. Thing. Ever. I wore it for the first few days all the time and when I can start exercising harder, I'm going to wear it then. I'm doing it more for helping the pains that still happen after surgery, but if it helps loose skin, even better!

I had talked to my doctor about this at my pre-op appointment and he flat out said I wouldn't need one; that bypass patients tend to need one, but I'd be fine. WELL, I had the hardest time moving around in my hospital bed and my bed, so I think getting one would've definitely been beneficial!!

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
