I have tried to eat yogurt all my life, and it doesn't matter the brand, flavor, or kind...I just can't stand it. The only kind of yogurt I can eat is yoplait whips (but they are too high in calories, fat, carbs). Not liking yogurt has really threw a wrench into these early stages of food. Just wanted to vent...lol. K? Thanks!

I'm not a huge yogurt fan either and the kind that I bought pre surgery was organic but had way too much carbs even thought it was Greek, so that's out. I get it.

In praise of yogurt ...

I love vanilla yogurt, especially with berries. :)

I wish I liked it. Because yogurt and fresh fruit has always sounded so good to me! I thought I'd developed a taste for it in the hospital after surgery....my first meal post op was cream of wheat and vanilla Activia. I ate it and loved it...but now I realize it because anything cool going down my parched throat was heaven. I've not been able to tolerate it since...I've tried many times throughout my life...just cant. (And I'm not picky!!! Yogurt and oatmeal are just about the only two things that make me cringe)

I didn't like Greek yogurt at all until after my sleeve. Go figure. I like regular yogurt but rarely eat it anymore.

Do you like cottage cheese? You can try that in lieu of yogurt. Still has a good amount of Protein. You can always add unflavored Protein powder to cream of mushroom or cream of chicken Soup. Just do not add it while it is super hot. It will congeal and curdle (I learned that the hard way). ICK!

I don't love yogurt either, especially greek, but I do love all the Protein it provides. So I just blend it up in my smoothies and it's all good! I get all the benefits and don't have to actually eat the stuff!!!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
