Nausea at 8 weeks no matter what I eat...

Recommended Posts

Hi guys, I'm 8 weeks post op, down 34 lbs. I am following my doctor's diet, but I feel nauseated and get that slimy feeling every time I eat. It also feels like the food is sitting in my esophagus. The only time I don't get this is when I drink only Protein Shakes, but even then I can only drink half in one sitting. Is anyone else going through this? TIA

P.S. I don't think I'm eating too much, maybe 4-5 bites over a 20 min period.

I was sleeved August 27 which is about 8 weeks and I have nausea right now... I had 4 bites of avocado with some veggies.. It was on a quarter piece of pita but I only ate the veggies. I don't know why this happens from time to time. I track what I eat and I can't always find a pattern . I hope this is not a forever thing . Have you tracked what you eat?

Oh by the way I get that same feeling in my esophagus when I eat to fast... Now I have a timer on the table... I have now realized how fast I use to eat before surgery ... And when I am busy and eating in a hurry this happens with the feeling in my esophagus.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
