Daily Multi Vitamin. What do you use ?

Recommended Posts

This January will be two years Post-Op for me. I've been using the chewable flinstone gummies as recommended from my Weight Center. (2 Gummies per day)

I was just curious. What do you use? Can I just take Normal Centrum tablets now? Do I take one a day or two a day?

I don't see why not. I take other tablets.

My follow up is this January.

Any input would be greatly appreciated thank you in advance for your time have a great day

@rxkid2384 Are you asking this question because you are tired of chewable Vitamins overall, or are you just tired of Flintstone Vitamins?

I am still pre-op but my NUT to me that I can have Flintstone chewables or Centrum Chewables. I will still have to take them twice a day forever, but I don't see why you wouldn't be able to switch to the regular ones after your sleeve could handle them. I'm not a doctor, but that makes sense to me. It's a very good question, and one I will ask my doctor about during my next visit.

I prefer whole food based Vitamins. They contain cofactors and micronutrients that can't be duplicated with synthetic Vitamin products (it's like eating an orange vs taking a Vitamin C tablet). Many also contain Probiotics and digestive enzymes. I currently take Garden of Life Vitamin Code for Women capsules. Before surgery I had always used Source of Life Gold chewables, but postop they tasted way too sweet to me.

@@Kindle I just went and looked up the Vitamins that you spoke about. I think as soon as the ones I'm currently using are gone, I'm going to give them a try. I didn't even know they existed.

Great! The ones I take say 4 capsules/day, but I only take 2 and all of my bloodwork has been really good. I figure I'm eating healthy and getting a lot of my daily requirements from real food.< /p>

I started out with gummies, but my bariatrician switched me over to Bariatric Advantage AE, which are a stink a** horse pill. The only way I can get them down is to pulverize them and put them in syrawberry or cherry Jello Water or my prune juice & diet cranberry juice coctail that I drink at bedtime. Blech!!!!!!

I am currently using complete Vitamin gummies, (I love the taste of them), but my NUT told me that post surgery I shouldn't take them anymore that I should move to chewables. She said talk post surgery that gummies don't provide all the Vitamins and minerals that you need. I didn't understand why it would be any different between gummies and chewables, but I'm just going to follow directions.

Trader Joe's High Potency chewable Multi's. I used to do 2 per day, but have switched to 1 since I can eat more nutritious food now. I have my labs drawn regularly and they are always great.

They taste fine to me and they are cheaper, lower calorie, and lower carb than most other chewable or gummy vitamins I have seen.

I am taking 2 Centrums(pill form) per day. I cut them in half. I will definitely look into the Vitamins that were mentioned above.

Thanks

Rather than take two multis, I take one pre-natal. They are Nature's Bounty.

I ❤️ Centrum flavor burst chewables. You have to take 4 pieces 1x a day. They are so tasty! ☺️

I am using Pro Care Bariatric Complete Multivitamin. They are one little chewable pill once a day and they don't taste bad. $11.99 for 30. Ordered online and they arrived in about 3 days.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
