Day 1 of Preop Diet

Recommended Posts

Horrible date for my first day of Preop Diet. All of my coworkers have brought in leftover candy from Halloween. chocolate everywhere! Then on top of that, it's also my first day of smoking rehab. But I'm determined to push thru... Surgery date 11/12/14. So excited!!! and impatient... Reading everything I can find, journaling and taking notes. This journey initiated over 2 years ago, started the process and backed out thinking that I could lose and keep the weight off without surgical intervention. Well here I am again with an additional 30 lbs to lose. Good luck to all of us November Banders!

The 2 week preop diet was the hardest thing I've done in my whole life!!, lol. But I did it and lost 20 pounds. I backed out from surgery the first time too thinking I could do it on my own. My family and coworkers insisted I could and I listened. Boy was that a mistake. Read as much as you can on the lap band. Watch videos by Dr. Paul O'Brien on youtube. You got this. Good Luck.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
