How was your experience on the drain? They pulled mine and I didn't know who was making an ungodful sound like so much pain.... Yep was me, boy I hadn't been informed of the drain pulling. But newbies going in use that pain pump regularly and before the pull.

The nurse started pulling mine I thought it was wrapped up in the other organs, it's so painful. Poor nurse went and got me a morphine IV push and it sure took a few min to get my belly under control from the spasms to let the morphine work.

Rest of the pain wasn't as bad as I thought it was after all that.

Day 5 and my pain med is almost nil, probably can use some Motrin.

Just having problems drinking, I know it's important so I'm trying. And weight lost? Never did, I gained 11 pounds. My feet still look like the Flinstones, I'm so swelled still up 8 pounds. Gosh went in for wls and ended up gaining weight.

It's ok, it's all the fluids thay gave you. Wish someone had informed me before I had the surgery. I went into surgery at 226 and 24 hours later when I came home I wad 238 lbs. What!? In pain and depressed I crawled into bed. Took me 5 days to lose the 12 added pounds. When I went back for my 10 day check up I was only 4lbs down, and my doctor had the nerve to appear upset at my loss. Well, I informed her about the 12 wonderful pounds I left the hospital with.

She calmly replied " yes, you were not putting out enough

urine during surgery, so they were really pumping the

fluids in". Oh, also, my surgery was 51/2 hrs long. Lots of

scar tissue from previous surgeries. On a good note, I had

my drain for 10 days. Never knew when she pulled it out. So hang in there. Trust it will all get better as the days and weeks go on. Best.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
