Did anyone develop acid reflux after VSG?

@@BitterSweet* I have never had a test done I just don't have symptoms. I don't want symptoms. So if I do and I can't tell that would be just fine with me.

i have a question..how does the belly do with pills after surgery? my prilosec pills are pretty big...how can i handle them the day after surgery? it is a question i'll be sure to ask.

I am day 4 post-op and my tummy has been doing just fine with all of the pills I'm taking. The percocet's are big and I'm able to get them down with no problems. A couple extra sips of Water with it also helps.

I got it...this has been the worst adjustment. My mom told me that it's been in the family though. I take acid reflux prescription pills every morning...and I'm praying that it goes away soon. Some people get it and some people don't...nothing strange.

I'm on pantoprazole. ..30 days. Doc hoping I'm good after that. I stopped taking for a couple days cause I thought I was fine after first week but I quickly found I needed to start taking it again. I'm just horrible taking meds. Good news is I'm off my blood pressure meds already!

I was diagnosed with severe gastritis during my pre-surgery endoscopy, though I rarely had acid reflux. I did have a bit of reflux the first couple weeks post-surgery and some mornings my stomach has a bit of an acidic feel to it, but once I take the acid meds I feel just fine.

Now gas...that's a different matter entirely. :(

Pre op certain foods gave me heartburn. Post op those same foods give me heartburn. But I would not consider that I have a problem with heartburn. There are like, three foods that bug me, most of them I don't eat. Cherries give me heartburn but I still eat them.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
