Even at 10 months out I couldn't get in enough Protein without my protein smoothie because I can eat so little. Knowing I'm getting 30-40g protein plus a bonus 24-32oz of fluids allows me to eat a healthy balance of other foods including fruits and veggies and whole grains. Otherwise I would be eating protein for every meal and snack just to get enough and I'd be too full for anything else. And that is neither fun nor healthy.

Keep some shakes or mix on hand for bad days. The rest you can figure out mathmatically.

Breakfast: 15 grams: 2 scrambled eggs with 1 tbs shredded cheddar.

Snack: 8 grams: chocolate milk (1 cup milk w/ sugar-free chocloate Syrup

Lunch: 15 grams: 2 ounces grilled chicken on small green salad

Snack: 10 grams: 1ounce of deli turkey rolled in endive leaf with 1/2 ounce swiss

Dinner: 15 grams: 2 ounces baked fish with steamed veggies

Snack: 8 grams: 1 cup of milk

So, that is just an example to divide out your day with three meals and three Snacks. This example is 71 grams of Protein and around 800 - 900 calories.

My requirement is 75g per day and I'm not getting it without supplements. I simply can't eat enough, or I'd literally LIVE on grilled chicken, which I refuse to do. I've had a lifetime of grilled chicken! So, I dump a scoop of chocolate whey in my coffee every morning. If, come afternoon, I'm a bit light on Protein toward my 75g goal, (typical), I'll have 1/2 or 1 PowerCrunch protein "cookie". They have 14g and if you freeze them, taste like a frozen Thin Mint cookie. If I'm really low, (not typical), I'll go for the Quest bar. I also use other protein enhanced foods to help; mung bean Pasta, P28 protein bread and spread.

I do what @@bikrchk does. A scoop of vanilla body fortress in my morning coffee. Gets me 30 grams without taking up too many calories. So today I had my coffee, a Greek yogurt as a snack and a weight watchers frozen meal with 18 grams of Protein for lunch. So I had my minimum of 60 grams in by lunch. dinner will add some more Protein, I'm sure. Without that, I'm sure getting in 60 grams would be much harder.

My Dr told me that I would be eating Protein shakes and smoothies the rest of my life!

So, I went to Amazon website and bought five super healthy shake and smoothy recipe books for a dollar each plus shipping (about four dollars per book!) I bought a Nutri-bullet. I went to the local organic food store and bought whey Protein, B-12 sublingual drops without alcohol. I , fresh berries and spinach. I am armed and ready! I plan on making Protein Shakes with berries and spinach for the entire family. :)

I will let you know how it goes. The recipes look really appealing!

My forever plan still has Protein supplements listed on it. There is no way I could eat all the Protein I need. I can eat 2-3 bites of chicken and I'm done! Can't eat anything else. Snacks I try to eat yogurt or deli meat and cheese, but like @@Kindle I just can't eat enough.

My nut and doctor told me to try Isopure since I can't drink the powders anymore. It seems to be helping since they are like Water. I got the black tea flavor and love it

Neither my surgeon or NUT said I couldn't have Protein Shakes. I will be on them for the rest of my life. I know a woman who is 3 years post op & she has 1 shake a day & sometimes a Protein Bar. I have found that without the Protein Shake I will be short on my 60 - 80 grams of Protein per day. I use Syntrax Natura, Unjury & Quest Bars. I mix my protein powders with unsweetened Silk soy milk. I can't stand mixing with Water. I also eat string cheese for Snacks when I'm hungry. I also eat 2% cottage cheese, tuna (packed in water) & canned chicken. You can do it if you keep track of what you eat by either MyFitnessPal or a food journal. Good Luck with your journey.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
