Stalls are depressing!

Recommended Posts

I'm around 11 weeks post op and on a second stall. My first one lasted 3 weeks, this one has been 2 weeks so far. It's been really messing with my head, and it's hard to stay positive. I work out and try to stick to my plan, but I think my carbs have been high. I'm going to try to lower them and see if I start losing again, it just sucks because carbs give me more energy and make me less crabby. I don't know what else I can do. I get my fluids in as well. It's just frustrating. I needed to vent, thanks for letting me.

You go right ahead and vent! I know we all read don't worry about the stalls. However, I am sure it is very frustrating when you are doing all you can and the pounds are not falling. That is what got me here in the first place. Hopefully, not being able to binge with the frustration will teach me patience. Take some quiet time out for yourself to think about all you've been through and all you've read on here. Don't give up! Oops, that's right, you can't give up. This thing is permanent! :P Sending hugs and good vibes your way

Yes, they suck. I think I am going through my second one right now a little over 2 months out. SO CLOSE to ONEderland, too! I actually try to up my caloric intake a couple days to break them, and that seems to work. Sometimes there is just nothing you can do but keep on doing what you're doing and wait it out! I have also learned to only weigh once a week. I'll just drive myself crazy otherwise :)

I just realized this morning I've been stalled for 4 weeks. I hit 100 pounds and haven't moved since. Super annoying, but at least I'm not gaining I suppose.

Try picking up physical weights of how much you lost I think it might change your mind. Even if it's only 10 pounds pick up a 10 pound weight and imagine you walking everywhere with that. It totally changed my mind.

Yeah they really suck! I've had a couple. Just know that they are normal and inevitable and will pass!

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?
