This summer is going to be so busy! My annual family vacation/reunion is probably going to be in late June, I have to attend two nutrition classes that are two or three weeks apart in Memphis (a good 7 hour drive, one way) in either May or June or July, my brother is getting married in a civil ceremony sometime in early July, and my surgery is probably going to be sometime in late July (if they can move it up). On top of all that, I have to do more field work this summer, so I am going to have to figure out when I can get my advisor to let me take time off to do all this. :help:

I am probably going to wind up missing a good chunk (if not all) of the family vacation/reunion, since it lasts an entire week, and that's an extra week that I won't be paid. ;) Of course, that could be a good thing, since my extended family is super-nosy and my immediate family members have big mouths. I just know I would never hear the end of it about my surgery. I probably need to tell my folks to keep their mouths shut, if they haven't already blabbed. :straight :kiss

Last summer in my hubby's hometown it was The City's Centennial celebration, The Family Reunion (the whole family.. once every 10 years), It was the All-Class Class Reunion for his High School and it was all over the 4th of July weekend. Yes, there was a celebration Friday night, Saturday night and Sunday night. It was the biggest event of the decade in his home town! There were parades, parties, concerts, games and get togethers. Needless to say, we had to work due to last minute 'emergencies' at our job. His mom was upset, we were upset. Classmates he hasn't seen in 20 years told his mom to tell him hi. Aunts and Uncles came from nursing homes. It was HUGE. Now there's family portraits and the class pictures and the only ones missing are us. For real...we are the ONLY ones not there!

I know exactly what you mean when you say 'busy summer'... I don't know why that reply cut me off mid-way through.

Anyway, hope all works out for you. Hope the family doesn't spill the Beans until you're ready. Hope they are all understanding. Let us know!

Well, it's looking like a lot of the stuff is going to fall in the same week. My family is wanting to have the vacation/reunion thingy in last week of June, my surgeon consult got rescheduled for June 27th, and my brother and his fiance decided to get married on June 29th. So maybe I'll be able to just take that entire week off.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
