Almost cried today

I understand how you feel. I hate my arms and always asked where did they come from on my family genes. My arms are so big they do not look normal. I was sleeved November 29. 2 days later I had my husband to take pictures of me from different angles so I can track my progress. That was the first time I took pictures half cloths, so going to doctors to have my blood pressure checked was the same situation. Cuffs to small. Thank God we have a second chance. I understand your feelings.

Oh, do I ever get it. This was a while back but I went to Cedar Point for my birthday with my now ex-husband and a couple of friends. We waited in a really long line and it took about an hour and a half for a ride that was brand new. I was nervous about fitting the belt but I just barely made it. I wasn't anticipating the over the head and shoulders mechanism not being able to latch securely and that two skinny young employees would come to j form me that I couldn't ride the ride. I had to get off in front of dozens of people and I was mortified.

I have a great many embarrassing fast lady moments but that's the worst.

Cheer up though; thaws days will soon be a thing of the past

As part of a discriminated group, I understand how comments really hurt...in any language.. In any country... In any place!!

Even after 24 years, I remember a doctor saying to me, after emergency

Surgery..."you're the fattest person I ever operated on"

Wow. Never saw that coming. I was about 260 then and to this day I cannot believe bedside manner can be no manners!!!! Needless to say, I never saw her again.

I bet there are a lot of these stories in this group. And everywhere ... Not being told because they hurt. Now being told because we are talking to people that understand.

@@Diamond-Girl I was going to "like" your comment, but that felt wrong -- just wanted to say, boy, do I know how you feel -- my orthopedist has tiny chairs so I wander around the office pretending to look at the paintings on the wall, praying they're not running more than a few minutes behind - :o(

@@Diamond-Girl You're more than welcome -- I'm quite sure we've all got horror stories that are so sad and humiliating, in fact, there's a thread on here something about 'the straw that broke the camel's back' for you to decide to get WLS -- one of my many 'straws' was when I went for a bone density scan -- and got taken to a side-room and told that their scan-machine only went up to 300 lbs and they wouldn't be able to do my scan - talk about humiliating! :o( Anyway, hang in there!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
