ladydirc 15 Posted June 18, 2016 Well this is something new, haven't heard this before. Been post menopause for about 5 years. At least I won't be surprised or worried if I get one but hope not :/ Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-N910A using the BariatricPal App
CandidShan 15 Posted June 20, 2016 Ok, so my surgeon says that in some cases postmenopausal women have their periods come back since hormones are stored in fat and the rapid weight loss cause hormones to be dumped into the system. NOOOOOOOOO! Has this happened to anyone? This is horrible... hope that does not happen to me. Sent from my SM-G900V using the BariatricPal App

ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted August 30, 2016 I just turned 52 and haven't had a period in over a year...until yesterday. My surgery was 21 June, and I wasn't expecting this at all. Full-on cramps, etc. I sure hope it doesn't last long, but I have a lot of fat, so a lot of stored estrogen left. Ugh.

ShelterDog64 2,364 Posted September 1, 2016 Saw my surgeon today...he said it's normal and we'll only take it to a GYN if it's irregular or persists more than 3 months.
