tamg26k 479 Posted October 29, 2014 Just curious how much everyone is eating for lunch and dinner. I don't know if I am eating too much or too little. I starting weighing the Protein (chicken, pork, turkey- my 3 main proteins) and eat about 3 oz. at each meal along with a little Greek yogurt or cottage cheese and a few edamame . Is that too big a serving of meat? I know I'm getting in my Protein but just want to make sure I'm not eating too much. Don't want to stretch the pouch! Jonathan Blue 311 Posted October 30, 2014 It sounds like you are probably on the right track if your surgery was back in July. You should be looking to take in about 3/4 cup of food at each meal 5 to 6 times a day. Eating more frequently will help you avoid stretching out your pouch. If you have any other questions or I can help in any way, please let me know. Links to contact me are below.
tamg26k 479 Posted October 30, 2014 @@Jonathan Blue Thanks for the info Jonathan! I think I get about 3/4 cup of food at each meal but only eat 3 meals a day. I think since surgery I've had maybe 1 or 2 Snacks in between meals. I just am not hungry. Your progress is inspiring! I ran a marathon in 2000 and my hope is to complete another one within the next 2 years also. Best of luck in all of your journeys!
mamie60 104 Posted October 31, 2014 My nutritionist has me eating 1/4-1/3 cups of food 3Xs per day and one Protein Shake a day. Between 300-450 calories per day. I had surgery on 7/8/2014 and I have lost 74 pounds as of today! Feeling great walking 5 miles a day and going to the gym 4 days a week!
brown eyed gal 59 Posted October 31, 2014 Wow Maimie, you are doing great. Boy that's not may calories. I'm just a little over a week out and most days I hit at least 600 calories. My nut did not give me a calorie goal, just Protein goal and I won't see her again for 3 months.
mamie60 104 Posted October 31, 2014 She and I had a long discussion and decided that as long as I have energy, my blood work is ok that I would advance slowly. I am no longer diabetic, no more high blood pressure. Off all meds.
alyce20 82 Posted October 31, 2014 I am now freaking out that I am eating too much! I was sleeved on August 27... I am now eating 1/3 cup of egg whites for breakfast... 2 hard boiled eggs for lunch... No yolk...a cheese stick or yogurt for snack and 1/2 cup of chicken or fish for dinner and veggie... Have I stretched my sleeve ? I also just added some Peanut Butter on celery for a snack...I don't feel that restricted feeling that I use to feel after a couple of bites but I just stop after I eat those amounts. Am I eating too much!
tamg26k 479 Posted October 31, 2014 @@mamie60 Wow! Our stories are very similar. We both started at the same weight! I had my surgery 7/14/14 and have lost about the same amount as you in 3 months. My problem is that I don't measure the food I eat. I usually weigh my Protein and now and can pretty much tell a 3 oz. serving. There isn't room for much else! I think after the Protein I get another 1/4 from a veggie or yogurt, etc. I think we are both doing great! Congrats on the first 3 months so far and from getting off of of your meds! Here's to the next 3 months!!!!
Jorrin 6 Posted October 31, 2014 I was told to have 2 ounces (4tablespoons ) and that's it...per meal no snacking. But is this only for the first 4weeks? They gave me these little cups like the size of cough medicine measuring cups and that's what I get per meal...weather It's Jello, broth, chopped deli meat so it will fit in the cup etc.. tamg26k 479 Posted October 31, 2014 @@Jorrin That is what was so confusing for me. I think I was told about 1/4 cup of food during the the transition stage but when I got the sample diet plan it seemed like a lot more that that amount of food per meal and it also included some Snacks. I'm over 3 months now and things are going really good for me, (I think!! lol) I was just curious. I want to keep my stomach as small as possible for as long as possible!!!
