Dating after surgery

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! How is dating post op? I just had the surgery oct.20th but i was dating before than and cut who ever i was talking to off. It's not that he wasn't supportive, he just didn't understand why needed it after explaining a million times. Should we have a bypass mixer or something ? I know it's my time to focus on me but it would be nice to mingle a smidget.

This early in the game, I would definitely say you are right in needing to focus on you. There will be plenty of people knocking down your door to get to know you soon enough. If you are looking for people to get to know and hong out with, I cannot say enough about getting involved in local surgery support groups. Your doctors office should have one. Once you are several months out, you have progressed well, and your routines are in place, feel free to start testing the dating waters, until then just make a bunch of new friends and have a great time doing active things. This will be an amazing time of discover your new body and what it is fully capable of. I am so excited for you.

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
