My Surgery is in less then 2 weeks and I'm getting nervous/anxious! I'm having a harder time thinking I won't be able to chug Water more then any of the food stuff. I love water!! Also will I ever be able to drink wine with dinner? ? Can you still consume alcohol after you have been sleeved? I like socializing with friends and having wine.

I can chug Water on an empty stomache. Wine will go down just fine, just not while eating.

At 7 weeks out, I can take 3 swallows of Water at a time but not anytime near eating. (I was a huge water chugger before.) Have not tried any alcohol.

I was a huge Water drinker and had similar apprehensions. Well, I'm 6 weeks post op and everything is just fine. I can now drink Water with no problem, just not as much and never 15 minutes before I eat or 30 after. But I feel great and I just always always have a water bottle with me. (Except meals... Lol)

It will evolve naturally for you, just pay attention to how you are feeling and measure- monitor your food and drink intake.

I had a drink last weekend at a party. I was fine with it, just sipped slow and enjoyed it. My doctor said to wait 1 month n obviously no overdoing it.

See what ur Doc n NUT say. They are all so different. Just remember right after surgery liquids are tough so it is sipping all day and nite.

I can get a good three gulps in and that will have to do... It is not as restrictive as I had thought. I have had white wine paired with a large glass of ice and it can take a long time to drink. If I go out with friends, a virgin Bloody Mary, extra spicy keeps me entertained, and sometimes I score a couple of really giant olives so it is kinda like a drink and a snack to me!!

I avoid wine (and other liquids) while eating a full meal as liquids kinda make my food "float", think reflux and foamies. Not comfortable. Wine, particularly red wine is reflux-inducing anyway so if I drink, I tend to do it ahead of a meal or after. Water goes down fine on an empty stomach now. I can't "gulp" but normal drinking is no problem.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.
