How is goal weight determined

Recommended Posts

I'm 10 months out and feeling good!! But I could loss another 10 pounds give or take Once I return to my exercise routine. But I'm wondering what is my goal weight, is it by our Normal BMI range, height and weight range, or our personal goal weight. I'm 4"11 and the charts says I should be between 95-100 pounds for my height and normal BMI it's 110-115 pounds. Right now I'm at 130 and wearing size 8 or 10 depending on the paints. I would like to be between 125-130. What's your thoughts? post-175708-14145434958912_thumb.jpg

I think it's tough being only 4'11". At that height even just 5 pounds makes a huge difference in how one looks.

I think it's best to select a weight that you think you can maintain for the long haul. If it was me, and this is strictly my opinion, I would probably shoot for at least another 10 to 15 pound loss just to give that extra bit of room when maintenance starts.

Congrats on your success so far!

Thanks Woo Woo! My doctor said that if I get down to 130 and end up doing plastic surgery he feels that would take another 20-25 pounds off. That would put me at about 115 ish. I can't see myself being that small. But your right go 10-15 pass my goal for maintenance. Great opinion!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
