I voted for Texas .

This gathering could be a lot of fun. Vegas ..... noway.....I could not trust myself around all the buffets .

I'd pretty much go anywhere but FL.

Chicago was my first choice because it is close, but Vegas would be fun and I've never been to Texas, so that'd be a hoot too.

Tell me where and when I'll be there.

OH Juli

wow -- sounds like a great idea !!! This forum has given me so much -- I am soooooo very greatful and would welcome the chance to get together. Although I'm partial to New York what about New Orleans?

Giving them the business/money, giving back/new beginings it all makes sense..... what do you think ????

And it is very easy to avoid the buffets. Go somewhere nice and if with bandsters, share a meal with one or more. Or eat a wonderful appetizer. At the Bellagio, crab cakes benedict is awesome and bandster friendly (always have to go there for late Breakfast and that tides me over till dinner). :hungry: I always share. I

would think alcohol would be more an issue for me than buffets (and gambling) :youcandothis: . But I'd go there. :clap2:

I think Vegas is much more do-able for most people. Like WAsaBubblebutt said, they usually have good deals going on for airfare.

What a fabulous idea!

Let's keep in mind airfare pricing from anywhere in the country. Orlando and Vegas are obviously convention hubs; producing greatest deals in airfare. Does anyone have connections in the hotel industry, so we can see what chain we may be able to get a good deal with?

Something like this takes months of planning; so don't be surprised if we don't all meet up with each other for quite a few months. All good things to those who wait! ;)

I also have to agree with the nay to Vegas...oh the buffets!!!!!! lololol

I have to vote for Vegas too! Its inexpensive for the most part - great for conventions etc. And the flights to Vegas are pretty frequent and affordable.

I used to live in Las Vegas (20 years ago), and have been back many times, and there is always plenty to do.

So when are we planning the "get together"? I'm ready to mark it on my calendar and plan my trip! How exciting. This can be my reward to myself for reaching my goal (when I get there - still working on it). We owe it to ourselves to reward ourselves with something - besides food, and what better reward than Vegas?

This is really shaping up to be a popular idea, that's so cool! I'm sorry to say that the sentiment running toward Vegas discomfits me a little--it is the ONE place in the U.S. that holds no appeal for me as a destination. (Gambling? yuck. Desert? yuck. Hotels? big whoop. Unlimited food? not anymore. Shows? I live near Broadway! Crowds of tourists? See previous and yuck.) ;)

But I'd put my principles aside for this event because I would never miss an official LBT-fest!

Alexandra-

We could go anywhere and we'll have a riot.

You just need to pick the date. Fall? January 08?

Oh so excited!

This sounds like an awesome idea! Honestly, I voted for Orlando because it is only a two-hour drive for me. I have never been on a plane and the idea absolutely terrifies me. I like my feet planted firmly on the ground!

January works perfect for me, our restaurant closes for the entire month......I could probably manage the fall if it was after September...I would love to go, I voted for Vegas but up for anywhere.

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
