Pro Wrestling?

Recommended Posts

I'm not sure if anyone will know the answer, but I don't know where else to look. I'm going to be getting sleeved, and was curious if anyone knew if once 100% healed, if I would be able to do professional wrestling? It takes quite a toll on the body so I could see there being issues there. Any help is much appreciated!

Are you already a pro wrestler? I mean, I guess you could wrestle, you'd have to take in a lot of calories to wrestle and it may be hard to take in this many calories after the sleeve. My son does jujitsu and he says when he's training or fighting, he has trouble keeping weight on. A friend of his started training with him and went from very overweight to buff in 4 months.

I would think after a significant healing time, you should be able to do whatever the heck you want. I had bypass and my doctor didn't give me any restrictions from any activity that would be "for life". I was able to start lifting weights again after 4 weeks and didn't have any physical restrictions at that time. For something that could be traumatic to the body like wrestling, you might need a longer time to ensure everything is completely healed but I can't think of why you'd have a lifetime restriction from wrestling.

BTW - I don't admit it to a lot of friends but I love wrestling! :D

I do MMA and I went back to practice 6 weeks after surgery. I never had any issues with the wrestling or BJJ component, or really any of the standup either. I'm not sure if you're talking about pro wrestling where they throw chairs at people or the sport where you actually wrestle on the ground like the high school and college sport, but either way you'll be fine.

I agree with everyone so far. My favorite workout is boxing, and it took me a few weeks to get back into it. Just listen to your surgeon, and to your body. Start slow, but you can get there.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
