Was wondering who your surgeon is. Mine is Dr Gonzalvo

I did not have my surgery done by Gonzalvo but almost did. By that I mean I went through the ENTIRE process and they told me and my insurance told me it was covered. Right before I went in to have my Pre-surgery appt, I was told there was an exclusion and it wasn't. The Bariatric Center didn't even check my benefits as they said they had. They did however get my "program fee" money. And the money I spent on nutrition classes, etc. At $40 a pop. I did feel like Gonzalvo seemed knowledgeable BUT the office staff and the way they run the business is beyond bad. In the end, I ended up being self pay and going to Dr. Nicholson in Texas. I feel it was a blessing because Dr. Nick is top-notch. Sorry, that's the only experience I have with them. Hope everything works out Ok.

Sorry to hear that. Yeah I haven't been impressed by the office staff that much. Some are great others not. I have my pre surgery visit tomorrow and surgery 1 week later. So we will see. Glad u got it done though. How has your journey been?

I have had no problems and praise God for His blessings. I have a separate chronic pain condition that I thought this surgery would cure but I still am dealing with that. I do feel better that I am 55 pounds down and within 20 pounds of goal. I hope your surgery goes well for you. Sorry I didn't see your message right away. You can do this....

Gonzolvo

yes he did mine on Thursday. I'm doing so so. Nausea is my biggest issue as making it tough to hold down liquids. They just called in Zofran so I will get that later. So did you have it at Tampa general? We're you in the Barbieri program there? My hospital stay was it the best but surgeons were good. I pretty much only saw Dr Roberts, Gonzavlos fellow after the first day.

Not too bad! Yeah I had one nurse who normally didn't do bariatric and she was clueless but other than that it was good!

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
