breehuskins 18 Posted October 27, 2014 I have had two concerns or questions over the past 3 weeks and while a whole lit of people view or read my concern, no one is willing to answer or reply to mt post. Am I posting my concerns in the wrong place. I thought this forum was full of veterans who have been through all this and succeeded!! Should I just ask another forum? Bc I'm getting nothing on here. devint 162 Posted October 27, 2014 Hi, from what I understand, the veterans forums is not for newer folks to ask veterans questions... it's for veterans to post and get their questions answered. I would try in the general pre or post op, depending on the topic and stage you're in. Most times, I find answers are most relevant from people who have JUST gone through what you're asking about... fresher in the memory. Good luck to you. DLCoggin 1,788 Posted October 27, 2014 Consider updating your profile - surgery type and date, current weight, etc. Folks are in very different places in their journeys. The more information you share, the more responses you'll get and the more relevant those responses will be to where you're at in your journey. Although the veterans forum is an invaluable one, there are other forums which have much bigger followings. Vets tend to respond less often to "frequently asked questions" knowing that other members will usually be more than happy to share their thoughts and ideas. If you haven't done so already, check out the search function on BP. It is a powerful search engine and will likely yield great results to almost any imaginable topic. If you don't find the answer to your topic, post your question in the appropriate forum. There are tons of very knowledgeable folks here. Keep experimenting and you'll soon have more information than you can shake a stick at!

DLCoggin 1,788 Posted October 28, 2014 (edited) Are you pre-op or post-op? Protein intake following surgery is quite important for a whole list of reasons. Perhaps the most important one being that your body needs a considerable amount of Protein to promote healing. And unlike other macronutrients, your body cannot store protein - it must be renewed daily. There may also be post-op concerns regarding changes in metabolism, eating patterns, potential Vitamin deficiencies, swings in blood sugar, etc. in response to fasting. If you are pre-op, now is the time to gather all of the information you can. The unprecedented success of bariatric surgery in the treatment of obesity is indisputable. But that success is based on science. I encourage you to discuss fasting with your surgeon. Get the facts regarding potential benefits and risks of fasting following surgery. Perhaps even seek a second opinion if you feel it's necessary. Once you understand the science, the challenge will be to reconcile it with your faith. A decision that you, and only you, can make. LilMissDiva Irene 3,282 Posted October 29, 2014 You might want to start a new thread in the general Bypass section looking for Christian Bypassers.
Baconville 578 Posted October 30, 2014 I practice the Catholic faith and really only fast once a year during Lent. Last year was my first experience after my RNY. Other than giving up meat on Fridays - which I did - I did not use food as my fast. I choose a commitment to increased daily prayer (15 minutes of prayer twice a day) and strict adherence to my exercise routine (no missed days - no excuses). In reality you are eating so little that giving up food just did not seem like a sacrifice. In a way I gave up my free time instead of food. I believe the idea is to make us more aware of God in your life. I felt I had a meaningful Lenten experience. Hopefully you can find something creative to give you that same experience while still following your eating plan. God Bless, Carol
bellabloom 2,467 Posted November 15, 2014 Try a cooler tag line like: "fasting to Death, need help!" Or "ten ways to Slim down for Jesus. " Sorry it may seem crude but that is the way to get your posts read. I'm in marketing. After that fill you post with personal experiences and examples with funny anecdotes (like how one time I was binging and accidentally ate a paper towel ) and direct questions to your readers. Ask them to Share. What do you think? Would this make you answer her question??
