Can I have some feedback?

It is important that you get the best bang for your buck so to speak. When you eat and drink at the same time it dilutes your food and it opens the flap at the bottom of your stomach and the food more liquid will slide out of your stomach and into your intestines. The stomach has its work to do. It starts the digestion process and then it moves it on to the small intestine to do more digesting, and so on.

The only exception to this for me is Cereal. Some us use yogurt and others eat it Protein drinks. I use milk.

It is a good habit to not drink with your meals or even Snacks unless your snack is liquid. Now I have heard of some who drink with their meals. But I don't suggest it.

There is lots of confusion on this topic. I quess one could say drinking washes food down quicker, but I have found liquid doesnt go though on a full stomach which causes discomfort. I learned this by accident. Bottom line is do your really have to drink when you eat? Or should you follow your DR's advise? I suggest the later.

I thought that you couldn't drink while eating because it is too much for your stomach to handle. I am only three weeks out, but I get sick if I drink more than 1 Fluid ounce at one time. I was really thirsty yesterday afternoon and took two big swallows of Water. Within one minute I was terribly nauseous and felt like I was going to throw up.

You are suppose to wait 30 min. before and after you eat before drinking any liquids. If you forget this rule and go ahead and do it, then your body will let you know by giving you some discomfort. Snacking at this stage seems impossible to get in through all the drinking and Protein requirements. The only time that it would be possible for me to get a snack in would be late at night. I don't want to start doing that because it's part of what got me fat in the first place.

I know we can't eat and drink @ the same time but does that include when we're eating our Snacks too??

I had the same question. Like mid morning I may have one thin slice of deli ham. I don't usually quit drinking 30 minutes before and after I just don't drink at the same time. It has worked for me, however I have to say that I have never been nauseous from eating. I have the restriction which is amazing. I love it.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
