October 2014 sleevers check in please!

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone! First time on this thread! I was sleeved October 15, 2014. I am down 71 pounds but have hit a stall and haven't lost anything this week. I feel like I am a slow loser and would be way further along by now. I have a trip at the beginning of March and wanted to be down a 100 pounds, but looks like I won't hit that goal. I just want to be out of the 300s. It's still hard for some people to even tell I have lost that much because I have so much more to go. It gets discouraging at times. Anyone have any great advice on how to get out of stalls faster?

Hope everyone is having a great week!

I'm also in a stall right now. They must be contagious! I keep losing the same 0.7 pounds. I'm hoping tomorrow is the day more comes off! I've been hoping that everyday for a week. It's like the moment I hit onederland, my body decided it was done.

October 7, Day of Surgery: 274 lbs.

January 30: 190 lbs.

I have lost 84 pounds since surgery on Oct. 7th, 2014. This process has its ups and downs, but I am extremely happy that I had VSG surgery. I've stayed on track since my pre-op diet and have not had one bit of sugar or junk food. My daily calories are between 550-600 and I walk 3 miles everyday. I'm trying to add in Pilate's to tone my body, but only do it 2-3 times a week. My goal is to be down 100 pounds by my birthday, March 11th. I want to hit my goal of 160 pounds by the end of April. My overall goal from the beginning was to get off all my extra weight within the first 6 months post op. My doctor and countless other veterans have said that it is easiest to lose weight during this time frame, so I am taking their advice.

Warrior as I sit here at work, eating our super bowl party "treats" & reading your post, you have shamed me (unintentionally) to do better. You are doing amazingly well. Great job.

So I've FINALLY hit 40#s down as of this morning and I'm between 15 and 16 weeks post surgery. I'm 50% to my goal weight which was an arbitrary number picked by me. Someone earlier posted about it being tougher to lose weight after 6 months. Has anyone else heard that?

I have heard that from my surgeon. The first 6 months are the fastest losing months especially if you start closer to 200 lbs.

Well that's a bummer. And then what happens?

We just have to keep working at it. This particular surgery is said to help you lose about 60% of your excess weight not all of it :( The rest will be hard work and determination. Please look at nurseray, vsg on youtube. I love her videos. Let me know what you think. She's a fellow vsg patient. I think she's Asian and she lost all of her weight.

Don't worry ladies! My mom had surgery a little over two years ago. She lost weight for the first 14 months. She lost and has kept off over 90% of her excess weight. She did say the first sixth months were the easiest.

Thank you Steph, how much did she weigh when she started?

So on average how much did she continue to lose after 6 months? I'm abut 1.75#s per week and I'm 3 months out.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
