Hi All,

My name is Suzi and I was just banded on May 10th. I am a little achy but for the most part, I feel pretty good. The first 2 days were pretty uncomfortable and I needed the pain meds but now I am just taking ibuprofin and feel okay. I am really excited about my future weightloss and look forward to meeting fellow lap banders.

Welcome hisuzi:

You might want to check with your Doctor regarding the ibuprofin -- mine doesn't want me taking due to the fact it is hard on the stomach -- and being you have a new smaller pouch - you don't want to mess it up.

Good luck and keep in touch!

Best wishes.

Gina

Thanks GR8. Ibuprofin for the first few days is actually a part of my recovery plan given to me by the clinic. I had my surgery done at NW Weightloss Surgery. So far I haven't had any stomach problems. I have been taking it after having drinkable yogurt and that seems to be working. I appreciate the feed back. Good luck with your first fill.

Hi Mach. I was sore too. They put that stupid tube in your throat during the operation. It will be back to normal really quickly now.

Did they give you one of those breathing things to use to help you get the Fluid out? If not, you might want to ask them for one. It sure helped me. (I'm sure someone here knows what those are called. If not, I'll go look it up.)

Sound slike you're normal. What helped me the most was walking, resting, liquid Tylenol, and a heating pad.

NW Weightloss Surgery -- is that in Everett WA -- if so I used to live in Everett. I live in Virginia Beach, Virginia area now.

Just curious....

Glad to hear you have doctors blessing.

I found that each day got better from surgery -- and taking a nap the first 3 days helped tremendously! Mine was Monday - and Thursday I was out and about -- going to the beach - dinner with friends and such.

Good Luck!

Thanks Betsyjane. I did get one of those breathing things. I can do it ok, but severe cramps hit me in my sides sort of like a side stich does. I am still taking liquid hydrocodone every hours. What is the best position to sleep in. I have been doing both the back and the sides. Gas is not really bad, but noticeable.

"That breathing thing" is called an incentive spirometer. I was banded Thursday the 10th also, and fortunately, I've had to take very little in the way of pain meds, just OTC Tylenol twice. I'm going to try to make it tonight without that. My biggest complaint is getting cold shakes late in the afternoon. I thought maybe I had fever, but it goes away after an hour or two. I may just be a little anemic.

Yes GR8, NW Weight Loss Surgery is in Everett. I feel so fortunate to live so close to them as they are very well known for this surgery as it is all they do and people come from all over the country now to have LB surgery with them.

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

The 14th was my day. I am home and recovery is going pretty smooth. They even let me walk out of the hospital. Picture of me in recovery curtesy of my boyfriend lol.

Neat you have a pic of this day! I was sooo happy to get my surgery. It was well worth it! And I'm not even near my goal. I had surgery Dec. 2!
