I am now day three post op and I feel horrible. My muscles ache, nausea, Im dizzy, light headed and my mouth feels like I ate a gallon of Elmer's glue. Oh, and this terrible diarrhea, which I have no idea where i came from bc Ive been sipping on Water G2 and chamomile tea since Wednesday.

Is this normal?

Um no. Not the diarrhea. Loose stools come with a liquid diet but not horrible diarrhea. That with the nausea and lightheadedness could be a stomach bug. Call your doctor and see what they say.

Definitely call your doctor -- could be a reaction to anesthesia or pain medication.......Hope you feel better soon! What kind of surgery did you have? Your medical professionals will be glad to hear from you; they want a happy healthy patient recovering well. Best wishes!

always best to call and tell dr what is happening ALWAYS

i had #2 big time after surgery (and before) liquids in means liquids out

if dr gives ok, see if you use immodum AD and also try a probiotic as that helps the digestive track

i open the capsule and put in my Protein drink every morning

make sure you are drinking/sipping (use SF popsicles to help)

drinking too much too fast can make you feel sick.go slow and use the anti nausea tabs they gave

you to help ..this was major surgery, its going to hurt but each day you will get better

hang in there

Most of your symptoms sound like dehydration. Could be you have a simple stomach bug. Definitely get lots of fluids in. I'd contact my surgeon just in case, but don't forget the fluids.

Thanks everyone. I really appreciate your help. I ended up going to sleep last night not feeling well. I felt slightly better when I woke up but quickly turned back to what I was experiencing last night. Has anyone ever had maybe eggs mushed up or cream of wheat watered down before the end of the first week? Im also hypoglycemic so I have no idea if that is whats going on as well. Its frustrating but I know it will get better. :)

I hope things get better for u.

My surgeon had me start my Protein Drinks right after surgery. I had a gastric bypass 8/12/2014, I was drinking Isopure. It's considered a clear Protein Drink and safe to have as your stomach heals.

I am also a diabetic. Whenever my sugar got too low i would have regular Jello to help. Plus the calories from the Protein drink would also help.

Concentrate more on fluids than eating . It is very important to stay hydrated!

Keep in touch with your medical team.....they are there to help.

Good luck, sweetie.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
