I really hate nightgown. Much prefer p.j.'s so my thighs don't rub together (shocking that a bypass candidate has touching thighs, right ? ;) ) I bought new p.j. I also have a loose robe because I am very modest. I have to wear Danskos when they make me walk. I am sure I will be a sight but I have horrible plantar fasciitis and must have supportive shoes. Thanks for the insight everyone :)

Jenn i had bladder issues it required me to have a catheter my whole time there. So it might be different for you but honestly, i preferred nothing anyway because of the pressure against my stomach from the elastic bands on them.

Oh and you will have a drop test where you drink this nasty stuff that requires you to have them off. They gotta take pics of the new pouch to make sure there are no leaks.

@@BypassKrista Thanks for the insight. I totally understand about not wanting to moon anyone.

I hope I don't have to a catheter. I've heard that they hurt. Is that true?

Glad that it's all behind you now and that you are on your way!

@@Ivanova8 They are more so incredibly uncomfortable and embarrassing lol. Walking around with a pee box is not the best feeling but, if needed i just deal with it.

I took a small travel pillow that I used to hold against my stomach when I walked or coughed and that helped the pain. I had soft cotton gowns and soft cotton underwear that I used. However, my lifesaver was I took a bottle of Biotene mouthwash and I used that frequently as my mouth was super dry. Toothbrush, toothpaste, deodorant, body spray, and a little bit of makeup. I even had a bottle of nail polish and I painted my nails as soon as I got back to my room. They wouldn't let me wear nail polish to surgery. I guess that's considered overpacking but I used everything. I also am the nursing administrator at the hospital that I had it done at, so I had tons of visitors and wanted to look my best. That being said... The pillow and the mouthwash were essential to me. Some people swear by the gas X strips so you might want to take some. I had them, but was blessed with NO gas pains. Make sure you are up and walking as soon as possible. Good luck!!

I had my phone and charger and a couple of changes of underwear. I also brought some wipes and lipbalm. I wished I had brought earplugs because I shared a room with a girl who was loud as well as were her guests.

I didn't bring Gas X strips but I wish I had those as well. I got them once I got home...

I took magazines, books, 3 pairs of pajamas, 6 pairs of underwear etc. New bathrobe and slippers. I didn't use a thing. The hospital even provided a toothbrush and toothpaste in the table, so I didn't open my suitcase until it was time to leave.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

      2. BlondePatriotInCDA

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
