No good deed goes unpunished

Recommended Posts

I changed my eating habits long before my VSG. I wanted to prove to myself that I could loss some weight by myself before I relied on the surgery for help getting the rest off and more importantly keeping it off. So over the course of 5 months, I lost 40 lbs. before my procedure. That was the good deed.

So now week 4 & 5 post op, I stalled. Week 6, I lost 2 lbs., and week 7 back to a stall. How frustrating! Is anyone else having early stalls?

I know after losing 64 lbs. it isn't crazy to stall, but this soon after surgery it's frustrating. I don't want to waste one minute of the "honeymoon period". Wish the scale would cooperate. I know it's not the only measurement of success, but we want what we want, right.

Hope all others are doing well.

It's called the 3 week stall. It's famous. Do a search for stalls or better yet visit the sub forum "Don't sweat the Stall Stuff". There are so many posts about them from newbies that Alex created a whole forum just for you.

I understand how frustrating that can be and I will probably be the same way when I hit that stall. What you have to keep in mind, as I remind myself as well, is to stick with it. Two lbs never seems or even feels like a lot but it really is so Celebrate those small losses just like you would a bigger one. It's all going to add up in the long run. Remember, this is a marathon, not a sprint! Good luck!

I want a Jaguar too but that is not happening either. It is what it is.

PUT THAT scale AWAY! Stop the incessant weighing it will only lead to self sabotage. Everyone is conditioned to look at numbers. It is not numbers. It is how you feel. would you feel so bad if you were not looking at the numbers but were excited about the changes that are happening in your life. The things you can do now that you could not do before. The control you are showing with your ex ( comfort food )

Your body will stall. It is called body at rest. Your body is going through big changes. Still healing and needs time to adjust....PATIENTS hun.......When your body is ready it will drop the weight. It will do it on your time not Joan's or Jane's. Yours. :)

After reading this forum, I have decided not to weigh myself at all. I will just find out when I go for my followup visits with the doctor. Other than that I am going to wait until around the 3rd or 4th month to pull out the scale.

Good for you! That's what I did, too. I don't even have a scale at home. The only stall I knew about was one that last a month between weeks 6 and 10. I was sick with a clostridium infection and was a the doctor 4 times that month. If it werent for that I never would have known about the stall because I dropped a whole pant size in that month.

The only thing you should be concerned with at this point is staying hydrated, get in you Protein and learnings how to make healthy choices. You don't need a scale to judge your success.

I've been on a regular cycle of lose s little stall a lot. Just when I think I'm on a good run it stops cold. This has been a lot harder than I thought it would be but that doesn't make it any less worth it. Keep your eye on the prize.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!

Hi everyone! I’m brand new here. I just went through all my pre-op requirements per my insurance company and now everything has been submitted and I’m just waiting for final approval and my surgery date. I’ve been doing research, watching YouTube videos, TikTok’s, ect.. trying to prepare my mind and what to expect so I’ll be ready for the surgery. I was so sure and so set and so ready and excited. However, now that I’ve done everything & it’s almost here, I am sooooooo scared! I know why I want it bc I’ve tried everything and I just don’t feel like I can lose weight by myself. I’m tired of being overweight my entire life. I’m miserable, but I keep psyching myself out afraid of GERD bc I know how that can be and I don’t want to have to get a bypass after already gaining the courage to even get VSG. I’m scared of complications like I’mgoing to regret doing it and be depressed that I didn’t just be more disciplined and try again to lose the weight on my own even sitting here typing this knowing in my mind i just can’t and don’t possess the discipline. I’m also afraid I won’t be able to handle the restrictions of the sleeve. What do I eat? I don’t know how to eat healthy really and don’t enjoy healthy food. I don’t know how to do this! I feel so defeated!Someone tell me they felt anything similar to this or am I not ready? I thought I was. I am so tired of being sick and tired and so tired of myself and so tired of being stuck and stuck in this body and somebody different on the outside from what I feel inside. I just want to ball up and cry.

Am feeling this right now. My surgery date is 4/1. Sign the consent tomorrow. I feel like I overloaded myself with too much info, too many opinions. Got to the point where I was wondering if I should do this. Then I thought of my reasons for taking this step and that settled my nerves. Still get moments of doubt but am striving forward. Am just going to follow my book from the surgeon. Joined this because I was told by my dietician that I should do this for support
