sabrowne20 15 Posted October 25, 2014 I am 6 days post-op. This morning I had my first bowel movement and since then haven't been off the toilet. Every sip I take is coming right back out. I'm scared of getting dehydrated! It's hard enough to get enough liquids without the constant diarrhea. Please help!
pinkbunies 359 Posted October 25, 2014 OMG! I've been wondering about this. I haven't had one since Tuesday. 4 days and no BM. WTH? I'm trying to walk 6 miles a day atm and so far I'm meeting that goal, but I'm hoping this doesn't happen. What have you been consuming diet wise?
sabrowne20 15 Posted October 25, 2014 All I've really been eating is broth, diluted fruit juice, and ice pops. I don't have an appetite for much! I used to love a cold glass of Water and now water tastes gross to me!
akcota 1 Posted October 25, 2014 Ur body is making huge changes and I'm sure u were on a liquid diet prior to surgery? So u would be concerned with possible dumping syndrome...I don't mean to scare u but u can definitely become extremely dehydrated quickly. Are u able to contact ur surgeon to ask? JerzyTomato74 91 Posted October 25, 2014 Definitely contact your surgeon. He may be able to let you take liquid Imodium for the diarrhea. Also, you can always add a packet of Crystal Light or other sugar-free brand flavors to your Water if your surgeon allows it.
Kya Wolf 69 Posted October 26, 2014 it was 5 days for me before I went, and then it was loose. I figured it would be until more solids go in.
pinkbunies 359 Posted October 26, 2014 I keep thinking I've eat so much, when in reality its all liquids. I'm still losing weight everyday....I'm just peeing like a race horse. The only thing I'd relate to being solid would be the scrambled eggs in the morning. I've had conflicting info on weather I can eat those or not. 1 eggs fills me up. Forsythia 882 Posted October 27, 2014 Liquid in liquid out. Honestly once you are on solids your poop will solidify. You might go the opposite direction and be constipated. If you are concerned about getting dehydrated, drink something like Gatorade or pedialyte to keep your electrolyte balance up.
gaudjosl 22 Posted October 27, 2014 I didn't poop for 4 days then day 5 and 6 was diarrhea.. day 7 I had a solid. If you are having a couple ice pops and at least 1 glass of fluids u won't dehydrate but the more you walk the more you need to drink. My doc said if I had diarrhea fir 4 days then I had to go get iv of fluids in me.
