I am 6 days post-op. This morning I had my first bowel movement and since then haven't been off the toilet. Every sip I take is coming right back out. I'm scared of getting dehydrated! It's hard enough to get enough liquids without the constant diarrhea. Please help!

OMG! I've been wondering about this.

I haven't had one since Tuesday. 4 days and no BM. WTH?

I'm trying to walk 6 miles a day atm and so far I'm meeting that goal, but I'm hoping this doesn't happen.

What have you been consuming diet wise?

All I've really been eating is broth, diluted fruit juice, and ice pops. I don't have an appetite for much! I used to love a cold glass of Water and now water tastes gross to me!

Ur body is making huge changes and I'm sure u were on a liquid diet prior to surgery? So u would be concerned with possible dumping syndrome...I don't mean to scare u but u can definitely become extremely dehydrated quickly. Are u able to contact ur surgeon to ask?

Definitely contact your surgeon. He may be able to let you take liquid Imodium for the diarrhea. Also, you can always add a packet of Crystal Light or other sugar-free brand flavors to your Water if your surgeon allows it.

it was 5 days for me before I went, and then it was loose. I figured it would be until more solids go in.

I keep thinking I've eat so much, when in reality its all liquids. I'm still losing weight everyday....I'm just peeing like a race horse.

The only thing I'd relate to being solid would be the scrambled eggs in the morning. I've had conflicting info on weather I can eat those or not. 1 eggs fills me up.

Liquid in liquid out. Honestly once you are on solids your poop will solidify. You might go the opposite direction and be constipated. If you are concerned about getting dehydrated, drink something like Gatorade or pedialyte to keep your electrolyte balance up.

I didn't poop for 4 days then day 5 and 6 was diarrhea.. day 7 I had a solid. If you are having a couple ice pops and at least 1 glass of fluids u won't dehydrate but the more you walk the more you need to drink. My doc said if I had diarrhea fir 4 days then I had to go get iv of fluids in me.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
