Yes I have been also working out the past 3 weeks going to the gym 4 days a week and doing cardio for 45mins.

I feel like wight loss is slow but did manage to lose 5 lbs in like 9 days. I only see weight loss if I worked out the day before. for example I didnt go to gym for 2 days in row and gained back 1.7 lbs. and then that took me 2 days to lose after working out.

Guess I should write it down what I've lost weekly. Didn't think of logging it that way. I lost about 7 pounds from pre op diet to surgery. Have lost 13 since the 24th. Which was my surgery day. So 20 total. I will start keeping weekly track now though.

I'm pre-op but for the last year or so I've used an app on my android phone called Body Tracker. Each week I take a photo, weigh, and measure myself. Then it shows me a mini-video of all my photos from oldest to most recent, plus I can look at specific measurements like left bicep and see on a graph the inches lost over time.

I don't know if this will help anyone but sometimes I don't see any change and then I look at the video of the photos and realize all the little changes over time make a big difference. It's actually inspired me to take a photo every week of my 4 daughters. It's awesome to go through photos and see the gradual changes as they grow up!

It sounds like everyone is really having great results - congratulations!!

It's been a few weeks since updates were posted. Anyone care to update us their progress? My MGB surgery isn't scheduled until after the first of the year so I'm living vicariously through your success stories until then. ;)

For those who wouldn't mind, I'd love to ask some questions about your surgery/recovery experiences and what tips/advice you could share.

Hi all - I've stalled through weeks 6-8, but I'm ok with it. I'm eating normal foods again. Just sticking with it, I'm sure it will move again soon!

Feeling great being 11kgs down since op day, don't mind at all if the next 11 are slow, as long as I get there. Just about to join a gym as I haven't yet done any exercise, but I think that will help shake this stall up a bit!

A tip- when you eventually try steak again, go very slowly... Tried it last night and thought I was having a heart attack :(( took hours for the pain to pass.

Doing well and eating decent meal sizes :). I am down total of 38 lbs on my 2 month anniversary(11/22) and in the last 2 days went over to friends house and I ate pretty much everything , enjoyed liquor and had dropped another 2 lbs. So, the total weight loss is about 40lbs or 18kg

Hi there, I am currently at the 9 week mark post op and down 59lbs. I have been stalled the last week when I went from walking to cardio workouts on my new elliptical gym and treadmill. Not sure what is going on there but I am certain it will pass as my diet continues to be on track. My son thinks maybe I am beginning to gain muscle back and that weighs more. Anyway, the scale did move a bit yesterday in the right direction so hopefully it will continue to move in the right direction. I am not going to get hung up on it, just going to keep on moving forward focusing on the right food, hydrating and exercise. Good luck everyone!

I had my MIni Gastric Bypass in Tijuana at the INT Hospital with dr. Ponce de leon on Apr 23rd. I weighed 320 lbs and have lost 126 lbs in the past 8 months. I now run 6 miles every other day, am no longer diabetic, nor have high BP, Cholestrol, GERD, or sleep apnea.

I had only one minor issue and that was a week after I got back to Canada.

One of my centre incisions became infected, or rather a couple of deep stitches did, and it required me to see my doctor daily for six weeks so he could repack wound.

The infection had gone deep and I now have a small hernia below that incision. It doesn't hurt and pops in and out but causes no problem. I'll probably get it tended to when I get a Tummy Tuck.

The MGB is free in Canada but in my province of Saskatchewan the waiting list is 5 years. At 57 years of age I didn't have 5 years to wait so I paid the $12,000 Canadian myself for the flight and surgery. It was the best gift I've ever given myself.

INT is the cleanest hospital I've ever been in anywhere and the staff, nurses, and doctors were top notch. ponce de leon has been doing these surgeries for 18 yrs and knows what he's doing. They had a car waiting at the San Diego airport for me and drive me across the border to INT and then back four days later.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
