I'm on day 3 post op. Gas is more controlled. I still am having issues swallowing, but I found if I walk and drink it's better to swallow. I took a shower this morning and it felt great; except the stinging from my belly button ????. Actually, the only real pain I have is in my belly button and from my drain.

I know this is tmi, but it really made me happy! I had a bm today! Haven't had one since the 1st day of the liquid diet. I am used to having at least one a day...those 4 days really scared me!

On a not disgusting note, I also realize I have to remember I can't eat/drink like I used to. My appetite is coming back and I used to be a big drinker. I just poured myself a huge tumbler of apple juice and as soon as I did, I remembered... I can't drink all of this! I guess I will have many moments like that in the beginning ????

Hang in there girl! You can do it!

mslady,

How much Water are you drinking? At first I was only able to drink a few spoonfuls then increase my intake little by little depending on how I felt. I was a huge Water drinker and now I see a big glass of cold water and I wish I could chug it :/ but it's ok.

cutee1985,

At home I put away most of our plates and cups and replaced them with baby plates and 4 oz cups so that I won't waste food. The only thing I do use a larger container is for my water.

I'm having trouble taking my protein! Any suggestions? I have the ISO Pure Fruit drinks and powder, today I tried the strawberry Muscle Milk... Yuck!

Hello cutee1985 I am on day four post op. I'm so glad you mentioned the pain with drinking because I've had that too. As far as wanting to drink too much I know what you mean. My dad went out and bought some small Dixie cups, similar to what they gave me in the hospital, and that seems to help me control my portion sizes. And I'm glad u mentioned the bm thing because I didn't go until today. I was also getting very nervous. But it sounds like

I'm right on schedule. Looking forward to continuing the journey with you and everyone else on the site

Thanks! I am going to try using smaller stuff. I saw some appetizer plates in Walmart, so I will get those when I can eat.

I had surgery on December 4th, 2014 in NJ. Are you having trouble keeping the food down?

I find that I throw up at night a lot. During the day I'm fine with my tuna and a little mayo. I bring it to work

and eat small meals 2x. I feel fine. Then at night I come home and eat and most of the time, I'm in the bathroom

losing the food.< /p>

I'm down around 30 lbs. but I'm so upset that I get sick from eating.

I had chicken Soup tonight.

Anyone with the same problem?

I also have trouble remembering that I can't eat and drink together. I'm so use to eating and sipping my ice tea but I can't anymore.

I just started eating turkey and chicken on the 1st of January.

Also is anyone having problems with bowel movements. Maybe because you aren't eating a lot you don't go for days.

I use to go every day, now it's been about 3 days and no go. ???? Mmm..is this normal?

I haven't gone poop since my surgery. I had to take an enema to go and it was not pleasant. Good luck

Question for anyone, how did you get your mind right before surgery? Like as far as eating better foods and just doing better in general? I'm having a really hard time with this. Any help is appreciated 🙏❤️

I had about 6 months between deciding to do surgery and getting scheduled. I came across the book The Pound of Cure by Dr. Matthew Weiner, a bariatric surgeon in Arizona, and started to implement some of the changes he recommended (and lost 13 lbs in the process without ever feeling deprived). The book is very simple, and the focus is on whole, plant based foods, but within reason. It's not an all or nothing approach, or going vegan or something, but focuses on improvement and aiming for getting it right 80-90% of the time. His suggestions are divided into 12 sections that you can tackle over time, perhaps one per month for a year if a person is just trying to improve nutrition and build good habits. They range from things like cutting out artificial sweetener or eating more beans to eating a pound of vegetables per day. I found it really effective pre-surgery and it's an eating style I will be working to get back to as I am further out from surgery and have more capacity. Small changes you can sustain will do the most for building good habits for life.

That sounds awesome. I'll have to check that out thanks!

I've hit a stall 9 months out. I'm not worried, though. My fitness levels continue to improve and I have nearly accomplished my pre-surgery goal of learning to scuba dive! One dive left to complete to get my PADI card 🐠
I was able to go for a 10K/6mile hike in the mountains two days ago just for the fun of it. In the before days, I might have attempted this, but it would have taken me 7 or 8 hours to complete and I would have been exhausted and in pain for the next two days. Taking my time with breaks for snacks and water, I was finished with my wee jaunt in only 4 hours 😎 and really got to enjoy photographing some insects, fungi, and turtles.
Just for fun last week, I ran two 5Ks in two days, something I would have never done in the past! Next goal is a 10K before the end of this month.

Hi everyone, I wrote back in May about having no strength. I still get totally exhausted just walking from room to room, it’s so bad I’m using a walker with wheels of all things. I had the gastric sleeve Jan. 24th. I’m doing exactly what the programs says, except protein shakes. I have different meats and protein bars daily, including vitamins daily. I do drink my fluids as well.  I go in for IV hydration 4 days a week and feel ok just til evening.  So far as of Jan 1st I’ve dropped 76 lbs. I just want to enjoy the weight lose. Any suggestions or has anyone else gone thru this??  Doctor says just increase calorie intake, still the same.

Losing my hair in clumps and still dealing with "stomach" issues from gallbladder removal surgery. On the positive side I'm doing better about meeting protein and water goals and taking my vitamins, so yay? 🤷‍♀️
