yescobar 42 Posted October 24, 2014 Is it normal that by the 5th month you start tolerating more food? This past week I've been eating more and getting hungrier. Is it normal or has my pouch gotten stretched?
Miss Mac 6,262 Posted October 24, 2014 I started out post-op with a capacity of 1/3 cup and 2 tablespoons (appx 1/2 cup total). At ten months out, I can eat closer to one cup total, but still get "full" signals from Miss Tummy when she approaches max capacity. Either I get a Tupperwae burp or the hiccups when she is done. One cup of food is nothing compared to what I used to eat. Used to be I could eat six White Castle burgers, with fries, with a 16 oz. shake. Now, I don't even want to go there. Kindle 8,667 Posted October 24, 2014 Totally normal. In the beginning your stomach is swollen and irritated so you feel a lot more restriction. You will definitely be able to eat more the farther out you get. I'm only 10 months and I can eat significantly more than I could even 3 months ago. I've read posts from veterans that claim much less restriction 2-3 years out. Thats why a commitment to lifestyle changes is so important for long term success. I get hungry and have to eat every 3 hours or so. Just need to make smart choices.
