Insurance question....

Recommended Posts

I know that all insurances and doctors/hospitals are different, but....

Just found out that I have met my deductible on both my and my husbands health insurance. So, one pays at 80% and the other at 90%!

Any guesses as to what my out of pocket could be? They have already told me no more than $2000 but that was before I met my deductibles.

@@shelby77 I guess it depends on your overall bill. I have insurance that paid for everything but 200 dollars. I got the statement from the financial lady in my surgeons office when I paid my 200 and the out of pocket bill for everything would have been 19,500. Thank god for insurance. I don't know if that helps Or not.

  • I do liability estimate for patients for a living and 9 times out of 10 if a patient is double covered and they have met their deductibles they end up being covered at 100%

My out of pocket maximum for the year is 8500.00 and somehow I have met it. I may never have disposable income again!

I had my pre-op appointment today, with surgery on Nov 17th. During which someone from the financial department came and gave me an estimated bill for my surgery, $93,568. I'm lucky my insurance is covering all but $218.

Hi @ORseleeveMom , Can you clarify what a "liability estimate" is? I called someone at the surgery facility (whose number was given from my surgeon's office) and was given a liability estimate. Is that typically the estimate for the total cost that the patient is responsible for? Have you found that there is much variability in the estimates versus actual bills?

Thanks!!
