I am not a sweets eater.

Recommended Posts

To prove this, I just found the bag of Hershey's Dark chocolate Nuggets with Almonds that I bought several months ago. With 2/3 of the chocolate still in it, no less. And, I've got half of a column of Girl Scout shortbread Cookies from 3 months ago sitting on my desk. I finally threw out the box of Girls Scout caramel delights, after it took me two weeks to eat all but the last three cookies in it (there were only 15 in the entire box). If it had been a bag of cheddar and sour cream chips, they would have been gone in a day or so, depending on my self-control (or lack there-of).

I'm not a sweets eater as well. I have two problems. I eat FAST (and I mean faster than the speed of light) and I eat a LOT (big portions). That is why I am hoping that this will work for me. Chocolates could sit on my desk for a week and I would have no inspiration to eat any. The number of times I have eaten a desert with a meal could be counted on one hand. I'm also lucky in that I don't like Pasta. For some reason it seems like most overweight folks have sweet and pasta habits that won't quit.

That's exactly my problem. I eat a lot, and I eat way too quickly. I LOVE pasta, though. In fact, I just had No Yolks egg noodles with shredded parmesan cheese for lunch today. I am not a massive desert eater, but when I do, it is generally a not-super-sweet dessert, like Key Lime Pie or something like that. The only chocolate dessert I can remember getting is Applebees volcano cake with ice cream or Outback's sinful sundae (both were not super-sweet).
I finally pitched a bag of M&Ms that are Halloween colors and a bag of Jelly Belly Jelly Beans from before I was banded. Sweets... I can take them or leave them. I want carbs, namely BREAD!
Bread is my downfall. I literally rate restaurants based on the quality of the bread they serve. In fact, the only reason I go to some IS the bread. Red Lobster, for example. I don't eat anything that comes from Water, but I'll go to Red Lobster and get the cheddat biscuits, and either just a potato and salad or grilled chicken. LOVE bread.

Eating way too fast has been a problem of mine also, and since you're both pre-band I'm glad to tell you guys, the band has helped!!

I was so scared to initially coming off of the liquid diets, but once I got into the swing of things, old habits die hard. The first time I ate 'normal' aka 'too quick', it got stuck, I PB'd and learned my lesson.. but not well enough.. have done it 2 more times since.. So it's like corrective behavior for me.. (and my PB's are violent thank god, so there's no heaving and jerking or pain, it just refuses to go down so it comes up). The feeling does make me panic each time though, so once I end up eating too fast, I PB, and slow it down!! In fact, 2/3 times I just stop eating. Woohoo! ;)

Yep, that's kinda what I figured it'd be like. I am going to concentrate on being a FAST learner!

You're probably SOOOOO right!!! It's pretty darned easy to talk big before the fact I know. Hopefully I'll just blast myself only a couple of times before the lightbulb goes on in my head! HAHAHAHA

LOL.....Lauren, pre-band DH and I used to do the same thing - especially with Italian restaurants. Although I love sweets, too. I haven't had a piece of bread in over 2 years, which amazes me. I never would have thought I could live without it!

I know it's pretty likely that I won't be able to tolerate bread after surgery, but at the moment it isn't even imaginable. I am actually looking forward to the reinforcement of PBs. My biggest problem with diets is that I can't stick to them. I don't have the willpower. I eventually get hungry and binge and then give up the diet entirely because I ruined it. But if I have something that will back me up and make it physically impossible to eat something, I think I can succeed.

Lauraj I still struggle with that fast eating thing. I use to eat like my cat after a long day of bird chasing. But now I time myself and I'm still at 15 minutes which beats 5 minutes to ten minutes. What to do????? I end up hungry again.

As far as sweets.. remember the funky thing we were talking about the other day about food touching and eating one thing at a time, no funny textures? Okay the fact that it was OLD candy and not freshly purchased would have stopped me. I have a problem with cake. We had a bakery fresh strawberry cake yesterday for Mother's Day. I had a piece, ate less than half. Waited an hour, ate the rest. Got up three hours later and ate another piece. This morning I feel like I was hit by a train. Got the shakes, I think it is a sugar buzz. I'm full of regret and beating myself up.

Oh my god, you guys do that too? I never met anyone before that did that. I always got made fun of by my family because I can't eat my food if it touches. And textures and flavors get to me, too. I can't eat ketchup, mayo, mustard, creamy dressings, or anything like that because of the flavor, smell, and texture.

Once you spend a couple of hours looking like a rabid dog while PBing, sliming, trying to get something unstuck, foaming, and finally a full barf... you kinda don't want that item anymore.

I'm pretty well over bread. ;)

I dated a guy once who not only would not let his food touch, but he only ate his food clockwise around the plate, starting with his meat.< /p>

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
