Cookie flavors post-op

Recommended Posts

Are the cookie flavored Proteins (like Matrix mint cookie, or whatever) "safe" for the full liquid stage? They usually have little tiny bits in them.

I didn't even think about that. Watching for a reply.

I'd think not. If by full liquid, you mean you're in the broth stage, then no. I was told to strain absolutely everything. Contact your team to confirm, or wait til you can have yogurt to be safe.

My surgeon said if it goes through a straw it's full liquid. But I still strained my cream Soups after blending. I also use the Muscle Milk Cake Batter and Red Velvet Cake Protein powders and neither have chunks.

Thanks! This group considers cottage cheese and yogurt full liquids so I just assumed it would be okay - I'll double check with the nutritionist and let you guys know what they say.

I was allowed to have cream of wheat on my full liquid diet. I had to thin it with milk to make it drinkable. So I think it would be OK to take.

Red velvet Protein powder? Do tell-how is it and where can I get some? Sounds refreshingly good if it is tasty. Kindle please share! The question asked here seems to me it would be ok.

It's made by Muscle Milk. They have lots of yummy flavors. It's really good by itself or with a squirt of Torani Caramel Syrup. I also mix it with Greek yogurt and chopped nuts and freeze it for a Protein ice cream treat. I ordered it online, but I think GNC carries Muscle Milk, too.

Muscle milk was my favorite before I tried BSN Syntha-6, but I never knew they had anything other than chocolate/vanilla/strawberry/banana. Actually, I think I found a stray mango premixed one at Big Lots a few months ago. I'm guessing it wasn't a popular flavor, lol.

I tried the Syntha-6 chocolate mint and loved it, but after I realized how many calories were in it I tried Matrix mint cookie and it was almost as good. I think it's the mint - it covers the Protein smell and taste pretty well.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
