Hello everybody!

I was sleeved on 9-24-14, about a month ago. I wanted to know what you guys thought about this idea of mine. I HATE the taste and smell of Protein powder. It makes me feel sick and I want to vomit. I saw that many greek yogurts are packed with Protein. So, instead of the whey Protein Powder smoothie, I would use 14 oz of the fage greek yogurt (= 40 grams of protein) and mix it with equal and/or berries, cocoa powder, ect and eat/drink this daily instead. I havent been meeting my goals and I can't drink that disgusting stuff anymore. I will ask my nutritionist about it as well, and will update you guys on what she says. In addition, the protein tablets by humapro may work as well. Has anyone tried either of these? Is there any other protein substitutions out there that have worked for anyone????

just hang in there I could not do any powder or premixed Protein. once you get to solid food you can try some low sugar Protein Bars which taste a lot better and seem to digest better at least for me they did. when you have no more restrictions with your food ie. solid, soft, pureed you may find it is better for you to get your protein from food with no supplements this is where I am now and I am getting close to my goals each day my NUT says that I am doing fine with my protein and everything seems normal so you have a lot of choices good luck :)

Two months out from hiatal hernia repair.  Surgeon said to expect a lot more flatulence...something about the 'air' no longer being able to 'burp' out so comes out the other end.  That is my experience but have no understanding of why that swallowed air cannot be 'burped'. ???

As I understand it since your stomach is smaller and not completely resting against your diaphragm anymore you no longer have the ability to "push" burps out as well. Plus, since its smaller and we don't digest slower the trapped air moves a lot quicker out of the stomach so its no longer available to burp out. Hence the other option for removal.

Me too girl!! Are you in the full liquid diet right now? It’s sooooo hard!

      2. LadyVeteran1

Not yet. I was told I only have to do 24 hours of a liquid diet. But I have my pre-op tomorrow so I’m going to confirm if I need to do longer.

Down 33 lbs and slightly stalled, but I'm gonna reevaluate and push through. I started back to work last week after 2 years of being disabled due to mental health as well as my weight. It's a great job and I'm just so happy to have this opportunity at a second chance at life. Hope everyone is having their best journey ❤️ Together, we got this!
