Banded at Northwest Weight Loss (Everett)

Recommended Posts

What time were you banded, Zima? I was in the recovery until almost noon and told a gal with long brown hair and a case of the same weepys that I had had a few hours earlier that "it really isn't bad". I wish now I had known who it was.......

I had my post op appointment today and wished I would get put on mushies. Turns out I have been pushing it a bit the last couple days.....so back to more "liquid" for me. I did lose 12.7 pounds! So I am going back on the 28th of June for my 1st fill.

Have you gotten sick to your stomach? Is that why you are going back on liquids. I tried mash potatoes today.

I have lost around 10 lbs. Great job on your 12!! Have you been having headaches?

Thanks for your help,

ZIMA

I only had a headache on the Friday after surgery and I think that was due to caffiene - lack of. I have not been sick to my stomach at all. I was told that even a mushie meal was too much for 8 days post op. He wanted NO contractions of the stomach muscles.

So last yesterday I was eating yogurts and pudding. I blended some tortilla Soup for dinner and ate too much. Not upset stomach but WAY too full feeling. Although it was low rather than high so I took a couple gas strips and it was better. I am still working on the more Water thing.

Great job on the 10 lb.! I actually saw 299 on the scale! No more 30 numbers for me. Thank goodness. When on the 17th were you banded?

I was banded at 5:30 a.m. I had my surgery in Pascagoula. Ms by Dr. Avara. This is the only wed sight I have gone to so far to Chat. Everyone has been so helpfull.

How does your scars look? Can you feel your port? I really can't feel mine. I am now worried because my Doctor said I could start on soft food (Tuna). Do you think I am stretching my band?

Has anyone had expereince with this before?

Thanks

hello all....I have some worries that some of you might be able to help me with. I'm on my third week after surgery & I have moved to "mushy" food. I'm scared because it seems like I'm able to eat quite a bit. I have also put on 2 lbs. in the last week. I can tell you that I am disappointed & concerned that I am doing something wrong.

I don't want to be eating so much that I'm stretching my pouch, but I know they say to eat slowly until you feel satisfied & full. Which is what I have been doing. Maybe it just seems like a lot after only having liquids for almost 3 weeks. Anyways, any replies or suggestions would help a lot. Thanks!!

Dr. Michaelson said that when I start mushies that you will get hungry. To concentrate on the protien first, veg 2nd, etc. No liquid with the meal and 1/2 hr after. If you can eat, that means you are not swollen anymore and will work on restriction at your fill. When do you go for a fill? Maybe you should call to talk to one of the gals. I have talked with Megan and Wendy and even Melissa - the scheduler. Maybe you should go in earlier for a fill???

Pine Nut: Thanks for the reply. I did call up to the Surgery Center this morning. They said that I am completely normal in what is happening. It's not uncommon to gain weight during this phase and what I am eating is normal also. She said that if I feel like I'm eating too much than to eat less at a sitting, but if I'm hungry to eat smaller amounts more times during the day.

I will try that and see if that works out better for me. ;) Right now, I'm just ready for a fill. But hopefully June 20th will get here quick!!

I will be right there behind you on the 28th! Good to know the info you posted. I just cheated 10 min. ago with a bite - only a BITE of Choc Chip cookie (really soft & good & mushie) and now I have a major headeache and can't quit yawning. I didn't realize how much some sugar would effect me. It is now in my drawer not tempting me. I am about to drop on my desk!

Question: I was weighed at NWWLS when I went in for my Nurse/Nutritional/Psych Eval.... on 5/21/07 and I was 307, I go back in on 6/11/07 for my pre-op... are they going to weigh me again on this day or again the day of surgery or will I just use 307 as my "pre-op" weight?:cry

I was banded on the 23rd of May by Dr. Montgomery. So far I've lost 11 pounds woohoo!!!

When are you looking to get banded?

ShellMar -- they will probably just use the 307 as your starting weight. That's what they did with me, even though I lost 11 lbs between my first appt and pre-op/day of surgery.

I had my surgery done at Evergreen Hospital and was weighed there right before surgery, so I know my official at-surgery weight. But NWWLS uses the weight from my first appt, not my weight on the day of surgery, when they calculate weight lost.

Don't know if that varies from nurse to nurse, or if it's changed. (I was banded Aug 31 2005, so it's been awhile)

Shellmar : They weighed me at my appt when I met with the psychologist, nurse, and my doctor. That was my official pre surgery starting weight. When you go back for your pre-op appt I only met with a nurse to sign my consent forms, pay (of course) and get my time to be there on surgery day. They didn't offer to weigh me but I asked if I could be weighed on their scale to see how much I had lost for sure.

On surgery day the first thing you do when you go back towards the operating rooms is get on the scale. I assume they do that because they want to make sure you have lost the needed weight you are supposed to lose to make the surgery "safer". From what I understood, if you don't lose the required weight, they could possibly reschedule you for a later time until you do lose the weight.

If you are going to the meeting on the 11th, that is something that you could talk about if you're worried about it. Anyways, I still plan on going also, so see you there. :)

Hi, I’m new here. I’m currently on the liver shrinking diet. So far so good, but I have to say I haven’t found a protein shake I like. Anyone have any suggestions please? My surgery date is September 17th.

Fairlife Core are by far the best. They taste just as they are - chocolate milk. You can either get the 26 grams or the 42 grams (harder to find and more expensive). For straight protein look at Bulksuppliments.com ..they have really good whey proteins and offer auto ship plus they test for purity. No taste or smell...

Fairlife has strawberry, vanilla and of course chocolate. No more calories than other protein drinks. Stay away from Premiere, they're dealing with lawsuits due to not being honest about protein content.
