KMCarlson 30 Posted October 23, 2014 Anyone have active jobs, like being a nurse in a hospital? I was curious how long non-office workers took off.
Agreen0707 5 Posted October 24, 2014 I took 3 1/2 weeks off.. Glad I did... Surgery on 10/6 and still can't push myself as much as I would want to. Get tired by end of day still. Happy some people can go back after 1 week!! I need to get my food plan in order at home before I go back to work and try it out!!

BellaLuce4 261 Posted October 24, 2014 Sleeved 9/16. I am in outside sales running to clients all day. I only took off 8 work days. It was not enough for me! I am 53 with 4 kids and I'm full of energy normally. I was so tired for the first 4 weeks. By the end of they day I would get home and go right to bed. I had no issues with the surgery and not much pain afterwards, just ZERO energy. This last week I can say I'm getting back to normal. I guess it's a personal journey for everyone. For me I should have def taken 3-4 weeks, even 2.... Lol. I just thought I could bounce back quick. Kudos to those who were where able to get back to normal in 1 week, I'm jealous, but happy for you????
dogloverlosingit 6 Posted October 24, 2014 Self employed. Took one week then back full time, no problems. Office job. Sitting at home thinking about food was too annoying.

OnePhatWhoDat 54 Posted October 25, 2014 Surgery Oct. 15th. Plan to return to work on November 17. I'm trying to push it to six! Not trying to head into that job before Thanksgiving really.
belovedwar 5 Posted October 25, 2014 I was back to work after 3.5 weeks. I didn't want to go back until I had my first solid/soft meal experience. During my first week back, I did get sick and had to leave work. It took everything out of me. Just because it's an office job doesn't mean it will be easy. If you are back at work, people will think you are physically and mentally ready to handle the stress and the demands of your job. If you can afford to take a little more time, do it. I was out of leave, so I didn't have much of a choice. Good Luck!
Maggie07 2 Posted October 25, 2014 I went back to work after one week but should have taken an extra week. I was totally exhausted by lunchtime each day.
Kindle 8,667 Posted October 25, 2014 (edited) I am a vet tech with a very active job...standing, driving, lifting, squatting, bending and holding animals all day. I went back after 7 days, but I couldn't lift more than 20 pounds for 3 weeks. (I shaved a couple days off, though, and started to lift 60+ pounds about 18 days out.). I was on full liquids for three weeks, so I had to make sure I brought plenty of Protein Shakes and Water and sip sip sip all day between appointments. unsupersizeme 43 Posted October 25, 2014 I took one week off and it was plenty. I had 0 pain on day 5.
FairySleeve 297 Posted October 26, 2014 Surgery on 7 July 2014, out of Hospital 12 July 2014 and went back to work 18 August 2014. 6 weeks off work in total.
MyKidsMom89 70 Posted October 26, 2014 I'm getting sleeved in 11/3 and plan to go back to work 11/17. I oversee the food Service operations in my school district so I'll be in my feet 85%-90% of the time. I know it'll be rough, but I think I can do it--I plan on letting my team do all the lifting I'm the beginning, and am glad we have to only work 2 days the week of Thanksgiving. Also, I've made a major sent in my holiday shopping so I won't have that stress hanging over my head.
