Stall at 1.5 weeks post-op-seriously?

Recommended Posts

Can it really be possible to be at a stall already since 1.5 weeks post-op? Very frustrating already. I was sleeved October 8th and have not lost anything since Sunday and today is Thursday. I am still on my full liquid diet, get all my Protein in and liquids and do take my daily walk. I'm not cleared to do any harder exercises yet being just 2 weeks. Need to hear others have had this and what I can do different? Everyday I think "tomorrow the scale will change". :-(

I dont even own a scale. I weigh once a month at the doctors office. Dont get frustrated. But i would try just weighing once a week. Just my opinion.

There's been a lot of posts on the three week stall. You might just got yours early. Remember you just had MAJOR surgery. Your stomach was cut out. Your body needs time to heal. Weight is just how much force gravity is pulling. (Can't remember the actually definition right now) Your weight might be "stalling" due to numerous factors, bm, bloating, etc. I can almost guaranty you, you are still losing fat. Put the scale away for awhile.

My surgery was the 10th and I stalled at about a week too. It finally moved a bit today but just a pound. I've been cleared for cardio so think I'm going to have to start doing more than just neighborhood walks.

Lndrn723 I also stalled at 1.5 weeks out. I lost nothing for 10 days. I was sleeved Oct 1st and just stared loosing again 2 days ago. I read an article that someone suggested from here called The inevitable stall, it explains whats going on very well. I totally no your frustration. Just hold on and know that it will come off. Here is a link to the article, http://www.dsfacts.com/weight-loss-stall-or-plateau.php.

Completely normal. You will have stalls here and then and in between the weight loss will be on a daily basis. Don't get discouraged, it does come off, walk, sip Water, make sure you're taking your Protein.

Aww.. I haven't gotten to copy/past my copy/paste in a while!! Thanks for the opportunity!!

I'll just copy/paste the copy/paste I did less than a week ago:

I'll just copy/paste the answer I gave to someone else less than a week ago who asked the same thing:

A search will show you dozens ... and dozens ... of threads about the stall that happens around week 2-3 post-op. Your body just had major surgery. Give it a break and relax and get well. Put the scale away and don't bring it out again for a couple of weeks. Be good to yourself, let yourself heal. Stalls happen all the time, this isn't a sprint it's a marathon.

Hang in there... you will lose weight and then you will lose size, but 1.5 weeks out from surgery is very too soon to be doing any weighing... hang in there and weigh yourself at the month mark... give yourself time to heal!

The stall happened to me too and I actually gamed weight. After my 2 week post op and adding soft foods to my diet, I started losing weight again. 14 pounds to be exact. Just keep with it and don't get discouraged. The weight will come off.

I stalled after 1 week and it lasted 3 weeks. I lost 11 lbs in the first 4 weeks. I was soon upset, but then in the middle of week 4 I lost 3lbs in one day and roughly a lb a say since. By my doctors appointment at close to the week 5 mark I was down 21 lbs. You just have to wait it out. Everyone told me to through the scales out. I tell you what everyone told me. Your body is still healing and you will lose weight.

@@nancykat150 I"m pretty much in that boat. I'm 11 days past surgery and I stalled about 5 days ago. Lost 2 lbs a day then nothing. ..even a 2 lb gain, and now i'm down one of the 2 pounds. But I know that it will drop and I'm just doing what I'm supposed to. I'm not going to lie and say it's not frustrating.. because damn it, it is ! But It will happen on it's own time.

Since surgery, I have lost 5 - that's right - 5 pounds! :( Sleeved on October 15. I started going back to the gym and put the scale away. Walking daily for one hour for starters. Still on the two-week liquid diet. Will start on puréed on 10/30. Will weigh again at my first post-op doctors appt. on Thursday.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
