@@Mojo56 how did it go? I had my initial consult with dr. Enochs last week and he discussed the sips procedure with me. Would love to hear from someone who has had it! Hope you're doing great!!

When I woke up from surgery I had nausea. I told recovery room nurses and they gave me some good stuff. I never threw up. Dr. Enochs fixed a hernia too which can cause nausea. I chose to be as positive as possible. They gave me good pain meds and nausea meds in hospital and sent me home with some too. Day 2 gas was horrible!!!!! Walking helps a lot but it takes awhile for your bowels to wake up from anesthesia. I swear by gas ex strips. When I got so miserable I started on those and I started passing gas that night. I stayed at hospital 2 nights and they would have let me stay 3 if I wanted. I decided to come home though. I have had swelling, pain and explosive gas with very loose watery stools. Each day is better though. Today I got up and got dressed and put on makeup and jewelry so I feel much more like myself. Only taking pain meds in day now. First couple days in hospital was hard to get in all fluids but since first day home I have done great. I will post my typical day right now in just a few minutes. I have lost at least 16 since liver reduction preop diet. That was 10 days of 4 shakes a day Bariatric fusion shakes and allowable liquids. Those were broth, sugar free Popsicles, sugar free Jello and things on list they give you. That was hardest part. But after surgery I have not been hungry at all. Oh and dry mouth after surgery is insane!!! But ask for those swabs they give you to moisten your mouth. Day after surgery you have to drink stuff and have xray. It was not terrible but I was dizzy from surgery then. After doc approves xray to ensure no leaks you get to start on Water and broth. 1 ounce lasts 15 to 30 minutes. Next day you graduate to 2 ounces in that time.

All in all I keep telling myself this will be worth it!

What did you end up deciding? I was a "lightweight" like you, and didn't have the DS so much to lose weight as to fix high cholesterol, Type2 D and high blood pressure. All of those things were gone within months of the DS! Unfortunately, I now struggle with eating and not losing too much weight. I think my situation is unusual, but obviously it can happen. The new procedure you describe sounds like a much better option for lightweights. I'd be interested to know if you went forward with the procedure and how you are doing.

Sorry , I haven't been on this site very much. We started a FB page for Nov Sleevers and I spend time on there.

I had a prob with my surgery and had some staples pull loose.,had to go back in after being home one night. Since then it has gone great. Total weight loss 55 lbs and only 27 from goal. Able to eat most anything but Protein is what I concentrate on. Still getting to know my sleeve and bowels.

The best news is that my bloodwork came back with normal levels across the board. No high cholesterol, no diabete! No medications anymore at all. It's been interesting, lots of discovers. I count Proteins and calories but I'm not a nut about it. Trying to walk but it's so damn cold and I hate treadmills but that's what I'm doing.

@jaba. I did end up having the sleeve with SIPS. It's not the same as the DS but somewhat similar.

Some internal staples pulled loose where the flap of the stomach is stapled down. My colon got very swollen in the hospital. The gave me antibiotics but the weight off the distended colon pulled at the stomach and pulled a few loose. No big deal. Just another surgery and 3 more days in the hospital.

Now all is great!

@@Mojo56 congrats on the wt loss!! Sorry to hear about the complications. I am having surgery with enochs in the next month or so - what did he attribute the issue to? Another surgery and 3 more days in the hospital is awful! How has your diet been? Eating normal foods?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
