Lady1000 16 Posted October 23, 2014 Looking for a good ratios of calories and Protein. I tried rice milk and nearly fell off the stool when I saw the number of calories it had, scratched it off my grocery list. The Blue Diamond almond milk I got has 1 gram of protein! I thought almonds were supposed to be high in Protein, what the ???? Not looking to drink it straight out of the glass just add it to coffee , Protein shakes, etc.
jhaymom 38 Posted October 23, 2014 I use Skim Milk plus, it had 12g of Protein, 110 cal and not sure about fat, for 8oz. It's really good I use it everyday for my shakes.
Lady1000 16 Posted October 23, 2014 I suspect I am lactose intolerant , this is why I am looking for non daily options but thanks for your input!
shrinkingjill 5 Posted October 23, 2014 (edited) I used to use rice milk and loved it.but post opp I agree with you, is too many carbs and calories. I got a small container of original, unsweetened soy milk for now. Edited October 23, 2014 by shrinkingjill
Introvert 53 Posted October 23, 2014 It's more fruity, not really milk tasting, but you can't beat the amount of Protein in only 3.8 oz...
jhaymom 38 Posted October 23, 2014 Skim plus does have a lactose free version.
finediva 979 Posted October 23, 2014 Lactaid skim. I'm very lactose intolerant and this is the only milk I can use. Skim has 90 calories and 8 gms Protein in 8 ozs.
HappygoSusan 296 Posted October 24, 2014 Lactaid There is also a Lactaid cottage cheese!
RenewMe 64 Posted October 27, 2014 If you live near a Kroger try their Kroger Carbmaster milk. 8 oz. has 11g of Protein and 60 calories. Comes in regular and chocolate. It's lactose free and tastes great. I am lactose intolerant too and just started drinking this after my surgery. I haven't had any intestinal problems with it. Now 16 oz. of half regular/half chocolate is my before bed "snack".
