happymama2014 206 Posted October 22, 2014 (edited) My surgery was on a Tuesday and I visited family in Las Vegas on Friday. 3 hour drive, I was a passenger but did drive home on Sunday. You should be fine!Thank u! Today was my last appointment a preop class actually and they made it sound so bad like the gas pain would be real bad and the pain on right side where large incision is will also be bad. I'm thinking I'm gonna be in horrible pain. They said the gas u can feel pain in your tummy, back, shoulders, neck???geez I'm thinking if you pump it full of airthen why not suck it out before you close me up ? Just a thought:) Edited October 25, 2014 by happymama2014

CrazyScrubNurse 0 Posted October 24, 2014 As a future sleeve patient and an OR nurse I can tell you that we DO get the gas out but the CO2 happens to irritate the nervea and causes referred pain up to the shoulder and stuff. BUT, I can also say that I have had laparoscopic surgery before and didn't have that shoulder pain at all. It was easy!
NotGoingThere 19 Posted October 24, 2014 I did have a lot of pain in my largest incision, but went back to work 9 days out, and felt just a little sore by then. I am in my 4th week out now, and no pain other than occasional twinges--most noticeably after I carried groceries that were too heavy over the weekend!
