I had my surgery July 7th! Started taking my Vitamins 7 days out from surgery. I'm down 64 pounds since my journey began. I have started the hair loss part of this journey and thankfully I have very thick hair. How long does this Hair loss thing last???

The hair loss usually starts about the 4 month mark and will go until about the 1 yr mark. The times may vary slightly. You can actually help negate this a little bit by upping your Protein intake. The added Protein in some people can help prevent or even reduce Hair loss. After the 1 year mak, things usually work their way back to normal in terms of hair thinkness. It is just your body trying to adjust to the rapid weight loss.

Keep up the amazing work with the weight loss! It sounds like you are well on your way. Is there anything you are doing now that you never thought you would ever do again? I am always excited to hear the stories of the amazing things people are doing after their surgery.

I haven't had surgery yet but I was told by my doctor's office that we should take Biotin supplements. They are are supposed to help with Hair loss.< /p>

I am at almost 8 months and mine is growing back, to the point, it makes my bangs look funny, my bangs got so thin and now there is about an inch of new growth showing through. The loss has slowed significantly. My doc said it should by 8 months. I am down 92 pounds and loving it.....(68 inches too)

Congrats to us all.. yippee

Mine started falling out around the 4 month mark and it stopped around the 7th month. It's now just starting to grow back. It was a nightmare with all the hair around, and I could never wear my hair down. After it stopped falling out I went and got kind of a bob cut, and that thickened it up for me. I'm just glad not to see hair clogging the drain anymore!

Congrats on your 64lbs lost!!

I've been taking Biotin. I'm losing a lot of hair anyway. I'm at 6 months and I see no signs of it stopping.

Sorry for YELLING BUT Biotin DOES NOT STOP Hair loss. IT HELPS WITH REGROWTH. I don't know how many times this has been posted!

I started losing hair at three months and now at six months I am noticing it coming back! I don't think anything prevents it or makes it come back but time. This is a photo from yesterday....3 months ago my hairline looked like my balding brother!post-202610-141418630711_thumb.jpg. All the hair at my hairline is new and about 1 inch long

@@shmily That was incredibly rude. I am new here (3 weeks) and I would have no idea that this has been posted before. I was only repeating what I was told by my doctor's office to try and help someone. It wasn't necessary to "yell".

but the Biotin promotes Hair growth so if it's coming out and the biotin is regrowing the hair you can say it stops Hair loss in a way also hair infinity works great.

Just been waiting until time for my consult with my bariatric surgeon. It's scheduled for Jan 9th. Turns out I won't actually be seeing him. Apparently it'll be with his P.A.             Not sure what to expect. I thought this is where the surgeon would discuss the best surgery option for me. For years I had my heart set on the sleeve, but I've read so many people have issues with reflux - even if they've never had it before - that they've had to be revised to the bypass. I already deal with GERD & take 40 mg of Omeprazole daily, so I started studying about bypass and honestly, it seems like it might be the better choice for me. How can we discuss surgery options if the surgeon is not there?
What happened at your first consult? Trying to get an idea of what to expect, or maybe I should say, what NOT to expect.

I would like to know what questions you wish you had asked prior to your duodenal switch surgery?

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.
