Seela 1,187 Posted October 21, 2014 I am one year out today (yay me) and have gone from a size 20 to a size 6 and yet according to my BMI I am still overweight... My original goal was 140 lbs, but at this point I think I would actually look too skinny, so I am altering my, as yet reached, goal to a normal BMI range. If I was in the middle of my normal range I think I would look emaciated, so I'll settle for just reaching the normal range.

Kristina Mccarthy-Martin 27 Posted October 21, 2014 I decided to go with body fat percentage instead of BMI or weight as I have been developing a lot of muscle from working out.
Momof2inIowa 195 Posted October 21, 2014 That is amazing!! Congratulations!! I think the overall BMI is just crazy anyway. for 5'9 they say I should be 160, I can't imagine that could ever be possible. I think at the peak of my fitness in high school I was 145 so I can't imagine after having 2 kids that I could get to that size again. I am going to ask my doc what she thinks my BMI should be or ending weight goal should be, I think I would be happy around 180 to have a healthy look and not look too skinny...I will keep working though I still have a bundle to go but down 99.5 already!! this is amazing! Chrystee 838 Posted October 21, 2014 Do you strength train? Might be time to start putting on some muscle. :-)
susieq321 31 Posted October 21, 2014 Remember you have a lot of muscle that you used to carry around all the fat you had to carry pre sleeve! I don't look at BMI, I look at my size and how I move and do I feel comfortable. I know for me I am a size 8-10 bottoms and 6-8 top at 160 lbs and 5'5" and in that range I am all good in the hood. How do you feel?

happymama2014 206 Posted October 21, 2014 I'm 5"6 and cannot remember being a 6! Ever. 6th grade I was in woman's 3 then highschool a 10 even though I weighed 136. I had booty and gymnast muscles but I will happily wait for that size 6. I have faith that I will!

rbtnln 81 Posted October 22, 2014 I'm with you. The BMI number is crazy. There are too many factors that go into it. My daughter's Tae Kwon Do instructor is 5'7" and 160 pounds and BMI says she's overweight. There's NO WAY! She's nothing but solid muscle. So, in my opinion, get to where you feel good. If you're happy at a size 6, then go with it. If you want more room in an 8, that's fine too. If you want to try for a size 4, try it. If you feel emaciated it's probably not the right weight for you. Bottom line, do you feel good? It sounds like you do. So good for you! That's really all that matters. BookWorm 87 Posted October 24, 2014 Our stats are similar and I'm amazed that you can get into a size 6! You go. I'm a size 10 loose. Everyone tells me not to lose anymore weight and I am happy with where I am and how I look but I can't get over the "overweight" status. I am obsessed with my medical chart not showing overweight. Size 6 isn't what it used to be... I was a size 6 in high school and I was a lot smaller than I am now, but I was in much better shape too... I'm about 5'5 tall and I would just really love to have something in my life declare me "NORMAL"... lol
kimpossible67 608 Posted October 25, 2014 Just the medias way of screwing with you. I heard today about a size 8 model who was told she's too fat to model, they want her to lose 15 lbs. ridiculous what society DEMANDS is normal!
