Lap-Banded since 3 years but now stuck at my current weight from last 6 months

Recommended Posts

Dear all,

I wanted to ask if anyone of you faced what I am facing these past 6 months, I have been on regular 1500 CAL diet and doing 3-4days workout and 5K,10K as cardios plus lot of weight training but I am not able lose weight and I dont know why?

Then, recently I did HCG Diet which was basically throwing my money away as I lost Zero pounds from that but since beginning of this program they recommend you go through blood test and I found out that I was becoming anemic which deitan said its normal for lap-band including hematologist thus got my Iron infusions through I V now my Iron levels are back to normal including Ferritin levels ( Iron gas tank measurement in your body). I was in an impression since my body was carrying less oxygen to my muscles hence I was not burning enough calories thus slower metabolism. Since iron levels are back I would thought I should be seeing some natural weight loss like I used to see before but I am now going into depression and I don't know what I am doing wrong I need help so badly.

so, now I am back stuck at 305 lbs as my weight I am 6ft in height. I started with 410 lbs 3 yrs ago. when I talk to my doctor he thinks I am not working hard enough or I m not following the diet which is not true. Also as per his experience and my age he thinks I should have lost 150 lbs by now.

I am thinking of going into 1-2 week liquid diet as I really want to drop some 10-20 lbs to break this barrier. Can anyone recommend if I am doing this right because my wedding is in 4 weeks and in my last adjustment for my lapband I requested doctor to open it up and since then I am eating little larger portions of salads etc.. but I am trying to act natural as he said it will be good way for me to learn and see if I can maintain my weight longer term without lapband as tool.

I will be highly appreciate if I can get some advice one this.

Thanks for your time and looking forward for reading some answers soon:)

I was stuck at the same weight for a year. You have to decrease your calorie intake. I would go with about 1200 calories you have to burn off more then you are taking in to lose a pound. I think this would help. But dont get so carried away with the working out part because if you are building muscle you weight will not drop. That is my suggestion. Eat less and lose more.

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
