Hello all I'm a newbie and I just started my 1st day of pre op surgery diet. For Breakfast I had a Protein shake w/almond milk and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon. For lunch I had cup of organic squash. At 2pm I had another Protein Shake w/almond milk and cinnamon and classic Tomato Soup. I'm I doing this liquid diet wrong....please help I really want to be successful w/this diet.... @@cindy1025 If you give the site a little search you will find all kinds of very useful information on what to try and buy etc. The answer are pretty subjective to taste and personal preference.

Stay compliant with your Dr. orders is what I would stress to you. Have something every hour on the hour, even if it's sips of Water between Protein shakes, yougurts, fat free sugar free puddings and Soups. Try to stagger the items that have some "constiatncy" to them as your meals between the shakes and the Water.< /p>

If you stay busy you won't even think about being hungry and you will keep your tummy and mouth doing something while you are drinking.

I found that premiere Protein Shakes is what worked for my hubs and I. Both pre-op and post op but it's subjective. I don't mind the chocolate muscle milk light but he hates it.

Good luck!

Did your nutritionist not give you a diet to follow?

I would think that squash would have too many carbs. My Dr. specified green leafy veggies only.

I am only allowed 2 cups per day of veggies. Certain veggies like cucumbers, lettuce, tomatoes, Brussel sprouts, and onions. The rest are Protein Shakes, broth and non sugar Jello, drinks and ice pops. Some veggies are not allowed like corn and squash. But every dr is different. I would call to make sure

thanks for all the helpful suggestions. Tomorrow is my surgery day November 3rd I'm so excited. I'm not scared just ready for my new beginning. I'm tired of being overweight and many years of yo yo dieting. Fresh new start begins tomorrow. Hooray:)

Day 1 of pre-op liquid diet (3 weeks) and I'm having a hard time already. I feel hungry and just want to eat. I got the protein and supplements recommend by my program and having a hard time getting 1 down. My doctor / nutritionist has me on the following:
1 protein shake (bariatric advantage chocolate) with 8 oz of fat free milk 1 snack = 1 unjury protein shake (root beer) 1 protein shake (bariatric advantage orange cream) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein bar 1 protein shake (bariatric advantace orange cream or chocolate) 1 snack = 1 unjury protein soup (chicken) 3 servings of sugar free jello and popsicles throughout the day. 64 oz of water (I have flavor packets). Hot tea and coffee with splenda has been approved as well. Does anyone recommend anything for the next 3 weeks?

All I can tell you is that for me, it got easier after the first week. The hunger pains got less intense and I kind of got used to it and gave up torturing myself by thinking about food. But if you can, get anything tempting out of the house and avoid being around people who are eating. I sent my kids to my parents' house for two weeks so I wouldn't have to prepare meals I couldn't eat. After surgery, the hunger was totally gone.

I have my final approval from my insurance, only thing holding up things is one last x-ray needed, which I have scheduled for the fourth of next month, which is my birthday.
